I think back to "October 31st"- she isn't exactly stressed of fighting off Shego etc.
point being- she sees saving the world as "no big" and I'd imagine she'd be more upset at Ron for flaking on a school project.

J here. I'm logging on a guest since every time I post, I get the message "The name you are attempting to use is already registered to another member at this forum." Can anyone help?
Anyways . . .
Partners is an episode we have to be careful of. Some would look at Ron's attitude toward the beginning and believe that this is shippiness. Unfortunately, Ron is only manipulating Kim to his bidding. Even the comment from Monique about Kim showing "tough love" is not a comment about their relationship. Instead, she's simply trying to encourage Kim to stand up to him.
Much like Christmas and Halloween, the science project is a tradition for Kim and Ron. This is one event that doesn't have any sentimental feelings attached. Instead, Kim harbors feelings of resentment. After all, Kim does all the work, while Ron sits back and lets Kim do her thing, and takes credit for it.
So we see Ron with his hands on Kim's shoulders. He opens the door for her. But Kim is no fool. She already has him figured out. The exception is when Mr. Barkin is picking science partners for them. Ron slides over and puts his arms around Kim. Kim is not pleasantly surprised. Instead, she looks at Ron with disdain. But what Ron is trying to say is, "Look! We're a couple! We should do this together!" It doesn't work.
Ron would probably act the same to Monique if he knew in advance they would be working together. Perhaps this why some feel a possible relationship between Ron and Monique.
This episode does not have that much in Kim and Ron moments. It can be analyzed that Kim need to excell is so great that she feels she has to be doing something instead of nothing. And Ron, if left to his own, could pull something from somewhere at the last moment.
The Drakken/Shego/DNAmy relationship could be analyzed in a another forum.

Ever since the proboards upgrade, my login's been random. Sometimes it says I have the wrong password, sometimes it accepts the same password. Usually eventually (when it's glitching) I can get in by clicking "forgot my password" with my user name typed in, and then it'll say only guests are allowed to use this page but I'm in, it says "Hey cloudmonet" on top and I can reach the rest through forum jump. I complained about this but nobody fixed it. Good luck!

yikes, it sounds like Ron really went out of character here or at least to the extreme lazy side of his character.

To the annoyingly lazy part of his character, sure. Out of character, nah.
Quote: “Ron would probably act the same to Monique if he knew in advance they would be working together. Perhaps this why some feel a possible relationship between Ron and Monique.”
Hard to prove this hypothetical, but nah, don't think so. Ron would much rather be Kim's lazy partner than Monique's lazy partner.

That's exactly it. I don't hate DNAmy; "Downhill" is actually one of my favs. It's Ron's attitude and Flanners that make the episode crappy. Plus all the characters just sorta looked strange for some reason, but that might be in my head.

I liked the hint at a R/M relatioship that doesn't go anywhere, 'cause that doesn't mater. Let's compare how Ron is arround Monique to how he is around Kim:
Kim Calls her "KP". Shares interests. Hangs out with her. Holds her hand frequently. Hugs her often (this is common for people who are just friends). Speaks affectionately with her at times.
Monique No nick-names. Shares interests. Hangs out with her. Holds her hand sometimes.
This is probably why Monique was introduced.

Re: Reevaluation of K/R feelings (Season 2) Post by Aers on Jun 28, 2005, 7:07pm came up with something while out for dinner... during this ep you can really see why Ron and Kim work so well together - because he allows/lets/must have her in charge. when Kim gets a partner who's willing to do ALL the work (and tells her so upfront) she can't stand it - she HAS to try and one-up her in some way, somehow in order to establish that she's just as intelligent and has as much to offer to the project as Genius-Chick. Kim could (and probably should) just sit back and relax; accepting her place as "Ron" in this team but she can't and won't - she tries desperately to take charge of the project and fails on every front. And she's miserable the entire time despite escaping "carrying" Ron for the first time in years. Ron, on the other hand, doesn't mind letting Kim or Monique take charge - to a point. True, he's willing to kick it into high gear at the last minute, but that's to save Kim and Middleton - all he wants to do is NOT be in charge, and Kim thrives on that in their relationship. While Kim's freaking at not being in charge and giving something to the project, Ron's very comfortable sitting back and giving Monique full control and power (and nervous twitches) because that's how he relates to Kim... so while the ep may not really be a K/R relationship ep, it does say a bit about the personalities of the two and how they relate to each other - and how they end up together because, frankly, no one else can handle them! ———————————————— Re: Reevaluation of K/R feelings (Season 2) Post by AgHorizonFilm on Jun 28, 2005, 7:10pm Nice point, and I think it also shows how they are able to work so well together because of their very different personalities and styles of working. ———————————————— [end of page 17]

So Ron's got a girlfriend, or at least he thinks he does, and Kim and Monique think so too. We last saw Zita in the production order-previous episode, "Grudge Match," serendipitously sharing popcorn with Ron in the theater, just when he'd given up hope of ever introducing himself to her. First time I saw this episode, when Ron said, "I'm ready to take it to the next level," I cringed, thinking Ron was about to do something horribly obviously stupid to jinx his romance with Zita. He doesn't, not really, but even so this is the last we ever see of Zita. She's part of a clique of students into an online roleplaying game called Everlot, and Ron, wanting to be part of Zita's life, tries to learn the game.. Of course, the most logical place in the world to do this is on the computer in Kim's bedroom. Mmm. Maybe Ron's computer isn't good enough for this game, you know, short on the processor power and V-ram, all that good stuff. Against this, Rufus is secretly the Tunnel Lord, and which computer does he play on? Okay, he could be doing it with Kim's computer. Maybe that's why he doesn't show up very often. So Kim is graciously helping Ron to learn to play a computer game with his new girlfriend. Is this kind of weird, or what? And look at how they look doing this: Who's Ron dating? This red-haired girl looks like she's about to kiss him. Oh well, once Ron meets Zita in the dark angular swamp and Wade's feeding him the magic words, Kim's literally out of the picture. So next day at school, Zita's talking to Ron in the hall, impressed with his supposed gaming abilities. Look out! She's touching his shoulder! Ship ahoy, mates, we must have infatuation, at least! Fast forward to Bueno Nacho. Kim doesn't seem quite as pleased about Ron's girlfriend now. He's making Rufus be genteel. Why doesn't he do this for Kim? And worst of all, her father and the tweebs are at Bueno Nacho with toy sombreros. Save me, Ron, let me sit with you. Kim gives him the sacred shoulder touch of subliminal shipping. Watch carefully, folks. You're going to see Ron do something he's never done before or since. He removes Kim's hand from his shoulder! And look at his face! He's just eating this up. This is what you get for being my just-a-friend and making me date someone else! And Kim is led away, completely humiliated by family trivialities. Enter Zita, with a text message about an Everlot convention. And off they go. Of course, nobody's there, Ron's suspicious but somehow they still get trapped, and from now on it's virtual sword and sorcery action with Zita, warrior princess, Wade the Wizard, Sprite Kim, and Rufus the mighty Tunnel Lord. My sword's bigger than yours, yadda yadda. Ron gets revealed as the noob he is, Zita wins the game, and Kim and Zita agree to rendezvous at Bueno Nacho. Zita comes out of trance, Ron talks to Malcolm about drama club and plays with his sword, and that's the end of Zita. As far as I know, we never see her again, not even silently walking through the high school halls in the background. And Kim? Well, for the next five episodes (Two to Tutor, Naked Genius, Rufus in Show/Rufus Sitting, Motor Ed, and Fearless Ferret) she's really, really nice to Ron, way nicer than we've ever seen her be before. See my analyses of some of these episodes above. Now you know why. ———————————————— Zoza Sidekick's Sidekick ***** Joined: May 2005 Gender: Female Posts: 2,785 « Reply #265 on Jun 29, 2005, 8:41pm » Yeah, I'm with you today (Z/R shipper) but I'm not into Z/R in a serious way, too distracted by D/S as my main focus... so don't expect me to be too arguementative ;D, and also thanks again for the screencap earlier. ———————————————— GnuHopper Guest « Reply #266 on Jun 29, 2005, 10:48pm » Are all girls like this, or just the ones I know? For me, the key to "Vir-tu-ron" lies in Ron's simple observation -- all the girls he's particularly drawn to are of a specific type, strong-willed and determined. But while Kim practices real world heroism, Zita seems content to express her "Warrior Princess" side in video games. Ron tries to play along to impress her, but I really have to wonder how long he would've been satisfied with a girlfriend who only *played* at being a hero? Ron's attempt at dating Zita, paralleling Kim's few dates with Josh Mankey, is an attempt at pursuing what each feels should be a normal high school romance. Events conspire to keep them from a normal dating experience, and in the end Zita disappears, never to be seen again (as Josh will eventually). Is normality what either really wants? And do Ron's repressed feelings keep attracting him to mirrors of the girl he TRULY desires? The question remains -- putting aside their own relationship -- could either Kim OR Ron even truly be satisfied with an ordinary boyfriend or girlfriend? And just what DOES happen to Zita? Although she seems disappointed that Ron lied to her about his level of expertise at Everlot, it seems shallow of her to blow him off just for that...after all, he shows admirable courage, strategy (he figures out how to defeat Malcolm) and compassion (forgiving Malcolm afterwards and trying to give him some helpful advice). You'd think after seeing all this, the last thing any intelligent girl would care about would be his video game skills. Then again, do we actually SEE Zita reject him? One disappointed look from her and Ron appears ready to drop the relationship entirely. Is he that much of a quitter, or is he just grasping at an "out" because he (conciously or subconciously) realizes this neo-Kim will never measure up to the real thing? At the climax Ron expresses some regret to Kim that he failed to impress Zita, but he appears sad for about five seconds before he's made plans with Kim to hit Bueno Nacho ("their" place). And notice that SpriteKim, while sympathetic to Ron, hardly seems upset at his loss; instead she's smiling as she anticipates dinner at their favorite restaurant, and is magnanimous enough to invite Zita along in a gesture of reconciliation as she knows Ms. Flores is no longer a threat (again, a parallel to Ron's forgiving HIS failed romantic rival Malcolm). I also wanted to briefly discuss the character of Malcolm Nevious, supervillain-in-training. One of the few baddies in Kim & Ron's age group (Gill being the only other one I can think of), he's driven by unrequited love and an almost Drakken-like desire to conquer this (virtual) world. Mocked by his peers, spurned by the girl, I tend to wonder if embracing the theatrical arts at Ron's suggestion will manage to steer him clear of trouble. Somehow I doubt it. One can almost forsee a couple of decades hence Ron and Kim's teenaged kids going up against this criminal mastermind of cyberspace, villain of the virtual worlds. With a name like Nevious, his destiny seems already written. Finally, I have to admit one reason I enjoyed "Vir-tu-ron" so much is that it's an episode where we seem Team Possible really work together as equals, each contributing to the final victory. Reduced to insect size, Kim loses the physical advantage and has to rely on her comrades more than ever...Ron, Wade and Rufus all contribute to the final victory. Zita may have been the one to deliver the coup de grace to the Wraithmaster, but it was our heros showing uncommon teamwork who set up his defeat. Bravo Team Possible! GH ————————————————

No. Evidence (the general disappearance/non-development of the "significant" others) shows that they aren't, and eventually they realize that they won't. I mean, basically the very nature of their friendship and the world-saving lengths it travels basically guarantees that that is so...It just takes them a while to realize that the only consistently successful, fulfilling relationship they have is with each other. And the truth is, even if she's touted that way- Kim Possible is no basic average girl. And no matter how preoccupied she seems to get with achieving that ideal sometimes, she's looking for something so much more than high school. Why else would she be saving the world? She tries to fit herself in the preppy high school mold, the casual lovey-dovey dating thing, the get a practice job for a fancy coat type thing, only to realize that she could never be that. It wasn't in her name, or her DNA. (Red hair also helps with the standing out sort of thing.) And there's only one person who can see the world at her level. Because he's right there with her, anytime, anywhere. Inadvertantly foiling geniuses and losing his pants. The unembarassable, incomparable Ron Stoppable. So in a way, the institution they are lets them escape an institution that they could on their own never really be an acceptable part of. (Arguably, Kim probably could more than Ron, but I doubt she would be very happy as the "OH EM GEE my nails so pretty ew liek, her shirt" crowd.) And as they navigate through it with varying degrees of success along the way, they use eachother for support, realizing in real and probably more subconscious ways how much they depend on the connection they have and the ways they effortlessly complement eachother. "You zigged, I zagged," Kim buying the blue dress that would go with Ron's tux, their names, the hero and the distraction. Zita is the institution, like GnuHopper said, queen in her pixelly world. Ron wants something more. But he already has something more. Can't say a whole lot about the episode specifically considering I haven't seen it yet, but the caps are great cloudmonet and I sort of get the gist of it based on the discussion...I know we'd all sort of discussed the disappearance of Zita (and the others...*dun duh duh*) a few pages back. Yay overanalysis! ———————————————— J2 Guest « Reply #268 on Jun 30, 2005, 2:32am » Virtu-Ron -- Some comparisons can be made with this episode and Crush. In Crush, Kim has a thing for Josh Mankey. Here, we see Ron with a thing for Zita. This is her last appearance on the show, and we can see how the relationships tanks. Oddly, this episode is a parody of gamers and the virtual world they enjoy living in. It’s become a running gag that gamers have few social skills and Zita seems to follow that same pattern. Let’s look for shippy moments. RON: It is time. MONIQUE: What’s with Ron? Watch Kim carefully. She turns to Monique with discontentment. “Zita Flores.” she says. Can jealousy be detected here? Almost, as Kim is masking it very well. But the way she says “Zita Flores” is very much the same way Ron says “Oh! Josh Mankey!” in Crush. Ron goes outside to overhear the conversation. Zita mentions being trapped in the forest and Ron suggests he can help out. We can easily analyze to say that Ron is attracted to the damsel in distress. Later, when Ron is having trouble with Everlot, Kim contacts Wade to get tips on how to beat the game. It may pain her to do so, she is helping Ron earn points with Zita. This is very much the same as Crush, when Ron is helping Kim gain enough confidence to ask Josh out. Just like Crush, Kim is trying to convince herself that she and Ron are still just friends.; that she can see him dating someone else, and it doesn’t bother her. Later, we have the scene in Bueno Nacho. Rufus is stuffing his face with nachos. RON: That’s cool when it’s just us guys. But you know, clean up your act. We’re entertaining a lady. KIM: Hey! You don’t tell him to cut the gross stuff when I’m around. RON: What’s your point? KIM: Nevermind. Is Kim jealous here. Yes, she is. Does Ron notice? Yes, he does. Watch them very carefully in this scene. The expressions says it all. Does Ron care at this moment? No. He’s too involved with in Zita right now. Besides, Kim is his friend, and this is you know, a date. Suddenly, Kim’s father shows up with the tweebs. MR. POSSIBLE: Ronald! Look, we got little sombreros. KIM: I will never complain about space food again. (Hand on Ron’s shoulder) Save me! RON: (Taking Kim’s hand off his shoulder) Can’t. Meeting Zita. KIM: Excellent . . . For you. Again, watch the expressions very carefully. Here, Kim gives Ron the puppy-dog pout (See screencap from above). It doesn’t work! Again Ron is expressing that this is a real date WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Kim’s response is a sarcastic one filled with bitterness. Kim walks away with her family, her head down low and her face full of disappointment. After all, BN is the place for her and Ron; and nobody else. How dare he meet another woman at THEIR hang-out place, and THEIR booth? Later, in the virtual world of Everlot, we have this line from Ron. RON: Are all girls like this? Or just the ones I know? Unless you’re new to the message boards, you’ve seen threads comparing Ron to Eric from STD. We can now make the same assumption about Zita and Kim. The only difference is that Kim can do anything in the real world; Zita can do anything in the virtual world. Zita becomes daring and adventurous, ready for anything. Ron is used to this, and goes with the flow. Yet, Ron shows his potential in Everlot. He knows the only way to rescue Zita and himself is to go beyond the limits of the normal world. This is partly due to Ron’s fascination with the lady in need of a hero. Later, Ron sees Kim in sprite-kin form. RON: Oh that’s so cute! Ron doesn’t even realize what he says here. He admits (in her virtual form) that she’s a hottie! Kim doesn’t notice either. Partly because of her concern with Ron. But also that Ron is with someone else. Perhaps she blames herself for this; getting Wade to help Ron so early in the game. And since Kim has little interest or knowledge of games, there’s little she can do to help. Besides, Ron is in the virtual world and Kim is in the real one. The sprite-kin form is only a representation of her true self. Notice in this episode that Kim becomes Ron’s sidekick. This is especially true when Ron asks her to be the distraction. The thought surprises her. Next we see the fall of the relationship between Ron and Zita. Ron admits he cheated, and that he lied to her. Whatever trust they have is instantly shattered. Their breakup is not because of Ron’s close relationship to Kim. (Although it might have become a factor later on.) The episode ends with Rufus as the hero. He gets the girl, and the popularity. And Kim gets her Ron back. KIM: What now? RON: What else? Bueno Nacho at ten! KIM: See you there. Hey Zita! You hungry? Kim knows it’s over between them. And a good dinner is a great way to patch up their ordeals together. Ron and Zita might have remained friends for a few weeks afterwards. But they would eventually drift apart to the point where Ron wouldn’t even notice anymore. ———————————————— AgHorizonFilm Sidekick's Sidekick ***** Joined: Jun 2005 Gender: Male Posts: 2,011 Location: Michigan « Reply #269 on Jun 30, 2005, 10:12am » Thank goodness for that. Never!!! ;D She's quite the opposite of that. She couldn't care less how good a person is at playing Everlot, as she said to Ron. Zita felt hurt because Ron thought she was shallow enough to base whether she liked him or not on how good he was on how well he played a game. She said that to Ron, that she would never base her feelings on a guy for such a shallow reason as his skills as a game. She felt hurt that he thought she was that shallow. I don't think he's the least bit blind to her beauty. He's not opposed to the concept of "hottie" either-- note his remarks in "Triple S." What he doesn't want to do is apply this concept to his friend and partner Kim, as evidenced by his response to Erik's "extreme steam" comment. Why not? Does Ron have some kind of double standard? Is it okay to look at girls he doesn't know so well as sex objects, but not the one he really cares about? For me, the ladies I really cared about were by far the best, um, sex objects (whatever their appearance), but for some other people, I know there is something to this. I've just never understood it. ————————————————

He's lay back and likes to have fun, so why are video games not his forte? Maybe he's good in regular video games, but RPG games are not his forte given he has to really think instead of just busting chops. Ron goes out of his way to impress Zita by trying to learn the game. She is smart, strong, and certainly not a damsel-in-distress type of woman. Ron does his best to learn the ropes of the game, yet he only does this to impress the girl, not to have fun for his own amusment. Kim at least accepted Ron for who he is. Ron doesn't have to change to impress Kim, given she's impress enough that he would stick with her, mission after mission. As for that 'cute' line Ron said to SpriteKim, I took it as that. He thought Kim was cute as a sprite, and she was cute. I know the show creators' had in mind to get Kim and Ron together from the start of the series. If so, it's no wonder Zita disappeared with no explanation why she and Ron didn't bother to go on anymore dates together. Least they had explained in "Emotion Sickness" that Kim and Josh slowly separated and it was no big for Kim to see Josh with Tara, yet Zita just disappeared without any explanation why. (shrug) For me, I think she moved away and Ron forgotten about her over time. Kim certainly keeps him busy with the missions, so it was no big for him to move on easily from Zita anyway. ————————————————

Unless this preceded Truth Hurts, Ron and Zita never even kissed. So however far their 'relationship' got, that would indicate it wasn't ever too strong. Zita, like apparently every other girl in the world, was plan 'B'. She just happened to be a little more accepting of Ron's advances. And I can't help getting the nefarious feeling that little Kimmy may be trying to sabatoge Ron with other girls. Why? Her mantra to him: Just be yourself, quite possibly knowing that Ron's outward 'self' isn't going to endear him to many of the girls that he's trying to sate himself with. But suddenly, to her surprise, it has seemed to work. Now she instantly switches directions, for the first and last time. If Zita is okay with dating Ron's 'self', now Kim becomes quite interested in helping Ron change who that 'self' is. "Just be yourself, Ron" is suddenly not the advice she wants to give as it is actually working. Now "Fake it, Ron" is inexplicably okay, and over a really minor detail. Does Kim think that this game is Zita's entire life so that she must help Ron immerse himself in it? I may be reading too much into this, but if I may zip forward in time for just a moment: Emotion Sickness shows that Kim was aware that Tara had feelings of affection for Ron, Gorilla Fist shows that she's aware of Yori's for Ron well before he is. Yet in neither case has she indicated to him that he should make a move. She's not stupid and is aware that Ron is somewhat dense, and probably didn't pick up on it. Yet mentioned it neither time until it was clearly too late. I think there is a strong possibility that Kim may be intentionally trying to sabatoge Ron's chances with other girls. Again, sorry for jumping up out of order there for a sec. Rewind. ———————————————— J2 Guest « Reply #287 on Jul 1, 2005, 4:55am » I've always felt that way myself. It seems Kim doesn't want Her Ron to be involved with anyone in any way. Take Crush for example. Everyone agrees that Kim closes the door on Ron to keep him away from her date with Josh Mankey. However, this also keeps Ron away from any chance that he might have with some shy, quiet girl in need of a last minute date. Also in Pain King Vs. Cleopatra, Kim seems afraid of Ron making friends with Monique. Jealousy perhaps of them hitting it off well? And (jumping ahead; Sorry) in Steal Wheels, Kim is distraut that Ron would rather spend Friday night with one of the boys than with her. I'm beginning to notice that Ron is hers and hers alone. And this episode was one of the best examples of that. ———————————————— Forlong Blue Fox **** Joined: Mar 2005 Gender: Male Posts: 1,225 Location: Kalamazoo « Reply #288 on Jul 1, 2005, 12:02pm » Jun 29, 2005, 8:34pm, cloudmonet wrote: “She's part of a clique of students into an on line role playing game called Everlot, and Ron, wanting to be part of Zita's life, tries to learn the game.” I wonder why Ron didn't ask Zita to show him how to play. Take a pic of Ron smiling at Kim after the crowd cheers them on for going to the prom together. Compare the two smiles. Okay, in Everlot... Ron starts to slip into a leadership role. He even figures out that Malcolm is the Wraithmaster and is out to impress Zita. Notice that once Ron is in Everlot the first thing he does (second really, he had to get up first) is help Zita stand up. Now later, when Ron runs into a rock in a vain attempt to leave the game, Kim cringes (she knew he'd get hurt) and Wade helped him stand up. We see no reaction from Zita. I didn't like that. Now back to Wade's annoyance in Ron earlier. Jake also didn't seem to respectful of Ron. But after seeing Ron in action, they both change their minds about him rather quickly. When Ron tells all the players that they have to give their powers to another player, Jake asks if they should give their power to him (WHOA). After all the action ends, Wade gives Ron a two-fingered salute. Also we see Kim do something she rarely does: ask for help. And when she calls for Ron, he dashes into danger to help her. The old team is back together, as it should be. ————————————————

Everlot is an interesting game. How is it that your game character always resembles the real you, and speaks with your voice? Ron's game character even has "Ron Factor" clumsiness and implausible good luck in battle!
As for Eowyn's and J's observations, is Kim really this Machiavellian, or is her subconscious playing these games? If Kim does know what she's doing, she wants to keep Ron all to herself in his place as number two, but have the right to seek love elsewhere herself. A lot of people are like this, but I can't quite buy it for Kim. She seems way too nice. But subconsciously? Then it might be "I want Ron" on every possible level, in conflict with her conscious desire to date a socially acceptable pretty boy like Josh or Erik. The deep hurt that shows on her face through much of "So the Drama" suggests the subconscious option as more likely. Let's hope so, for the sake of their relationship now.
I'm more inclined to think Kim keeps advising Ron to "be yourself" with other girls because that's how she likes him, and she thinks other girls would respond the same way. I don't think Kim's entirely wrong about this. Sure, there's Amanda, who only likes his haircut and tight clothes, and Bonnie, who only likes his money, but the (to my mind at least) more desireable girls (Tara, Zita, Penny, Yori) do seem to like the real Ron better. He just gets nervous and goes off a tangent to try to be more impressive, then can't maintain the pose and gets rejected for being phony.
One need only consider how a number of real teenaged girls on this forum respond to him to note that Ron does have his charms.
Quote: “I wonder why Ron didn't ask Zita to show him how to play.”
That, Forlong, is why he failed.

First, it gives Kim a new bad guy to worry about. This is never good for Kim, especially when we later find Ed is Drakken's cousin. Second, this episode shows Kim and Ron with a rock solid friendship. Instead of anything really shippy here, what we see is her reluctance to deal with Felix and his handicap. We're now seeing Kim putting her hand on Ron's shoulder now to where it's a normal thing. She does this to Felix too. They're both giving each other nice smiles, so that's become normal as well. Kim talks to Ron about her feelings about Felix and his disability. It seems Ron says the right thing here, as she realizes that Felix can still do things and be a normal kid; even from a wheelchair. And we see Kim more focused about Ron's kidnapping and her efforts to save him. So shippy moments and friendship moments are become more intertwined. Can we find moments that are true shippiness? Yes. KIM: Ron, maybe this is the year you should follow that dream and take on the pie eating contest. There's something else here besides Kim putting her hand on Ron's shoulder. Watch carefully in the background, as we see the Middleton High mystery girl. When Kim says "Ron," she looks over. Does she know what is going on? Of course. After all, she was in the movie theater in "Grudge Match." Also notice that Ron pulls himself away from Kim's hand. This indicates how normal this has become for the two of them. A few second later . . . KIM: Maybe we should hold off on the really intense rides. RON: Kim, I can handle it. Is this the first time that Ron puts his hand on Kim's shoulder? While it's fairly routine for Kim now, Ron is breaking new ground here. Next, we have the scene Kim is talking to Felix's mother. Ron and Felix are playing video games. FELIX: You're going down, Stoppable! RON: Not if I accidently hit the reset button. Watch Kim very carefully. She gets lost as she stares at Ron. Then a unique smile appears. Is it because Ron has found a new friend? Not likely, with a smile like that. She's admiring him from a distance. How do we know this? Because Kim would have been upset with Ron if he did push the reset button since he was losing! Instead, one has to wonder what she is thinking of. A pleasant memory; or a possible future? Finally, Kim and Ron are surrounded by monster trucks. Felix helps them escape. Kim grabs Ron by the hand and they run off to safety. We first saw this in Grudge Match. This is something else that will grow into routine. Next, watch Ron's expression when Kim wraps her grappling hook around Felix's wheelchair and put her arm around Ron. Is that a happy surprise? You better believe it! The show ends with Ed in jail and Kim able to deal with Felix. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be until season 3 that we see these two great characters again. ———————————————— Sydney Yellow Trout ** Joined: Jun 2005 Gender: Female Posts: 61 « Reply #297 on Jul 3, 2005, 9:25am » Love this episode, I'm going to rewatch it tonight since I'm kind of in a time crunch at the moment. Now this is one of my fav epys, which introduced two interesting characters. Too bad they only appeared in two episodes of the series. Felix and Motor Ed certainly caught many fans' attention. Seriously. J2 pretty much mentioned some the great K/R shippy moments here. Especially the casual hand helding Kim occasionally does with Ron long before they gotten together at the end of "StD" (even in "StD", Kim holds Ron's hand as she pulls him out of her house with the robots following them). What's nice about this episode is that it gives handicap people a voice. Kim was uncomfortable at first around Felix but grew to appreciate him, especially after Felix helped Kim rescue Ron. It showed that us handicap people are normal like everyone else (I'm hearing impaired). Now about Motor Ed. He is one *crazy* villain. He is like nuts regarding his hair, big wheel vehicles, and doing his air-guitar impression. He's *fun*! More fun than his cousin Drakken (aka Drew Lipsky). Just as I said, just too bad Disney didn't showed more of him. Seriously. ;D ————————————————

They're dating, in the sense of constantly hanging out together and doing events together. All that's missing is the holding hands/kissing part. We open at Kim's house. She's doing homework in the kitchen when her dad comes in with Chinese food, one container of which is already filled with Rufus! Dad brings up his new robotics engineer and her son, Felix Renton. The tweebs start chanting "Kim and Felix, sitting in a tree..." and Kim gets annoyed. Ron's in the dining room, eating crackers and drinking soda water. "We're doing the Middleton Fair tonight," Kim explains, and tells a funny story about Ron's weak stomach on a spinny ride last year which makes Dad a little nauseous. In "All the News," the idea of Ron just hanging out in Kim's living room watching her family's big TV when he's supposed to be interviewing her gives me the idea that he's not there so often. Dad's "Ronald, would you like to stay for dinner again?" in this one suggest to me that now Ron is hanging out noticeably more. But I could be wrong about this. Kim might have just been annoyed at Ron's priorities in "All the News" (this before he got really annoying), and Kim did go to the fair with Ron a year ago. So here they are this year on the spinny ride, looking for all the world like a couple (and there's annother couple behind them in the blue cup). Wait, I hear the spirit of anti K/R shipping past tell me "they're just friends," with a grumpy growl. Okay, maybe, but look at this: Check the body language. Kim is flirting with Ron to get his attention away from Felix so she can tell him what she thinks is the proper way to behave with their new friend. We've never seen this before, and Ron's a bit confused. Come on, Ron, take the hint. Kim amps up the flirtage, and look at Ron's reaction! I think he likes this. So, yeah, here he is touching Kim's shoulder. He has done it before (need I remind you of "Partners"?) but it does seem like he's trying to scope out the meaning of all this. Kim doesn't seem real pleased. Okay, they remain just friends, at least whenever they're consciously considering the issue. Otherwise, well, they act like a couple. Seems Ron is the one who has the right idea about how to treat Felix, who seems pretty capable at carnival rides, video games, and wheelchair basketball. In fact, when Motor Ed crashes the monster truck rally, Ron brings Felix along as part of the crime fighting team, and Felix remains part of the team for the rest of the episode, thanks to his robotic wheelchair, a very capable part of the team. "Flying? See, I told you he was cool!" Ron tells Kim when Felix levitates out of the way. But seriously, if I dare use that adverb, what made Ron decide to include Felix in their adventure? Something we didn't see, probably. Felix is Ron's friend the way Monique is Kim's, and they did a lot of talking we don't get to see. My guess is, Felix asked to be in. After the wind tunnel incident and Ron's accidental capture, Felix talks Kim into taking him along. Motor Ed and his mechanics are too dangerous for Kim to face alone? She needs the help of a guy in a wheelchair? The tricked out abilities of this wheelchair are unknown to her. She's buying this totally on whatever she perceives about Felix's personality and confidence. Maybe she's convinced Ron was right. In Motor Ed's junkyard, before combat begins, an accident or booby trap (hard to say for sure) causes Felix to amp up his chair to get Kim out of the way of some falling vehicles, and she ends up in his lap. Check his face. He likes this. And Kim touches his shoulder once. No, I'm not going to be a Kim/Felix shipper, but let's consider it for a moment. Felix is smart, good personality, better looking than Ron. Felix seems to like Kim despite her (from his viewpoint) many faux pas. Kim's come to accept Felix as capable for fair rides and capable in combat(!) But boyfriend material? Apparently not. What about Felix joining the team? His chair is an awesome weapon in some contexts. I don't know what would happen if he ever came face-to-face with Shego or Monkey Fist. Yes, Shego is in "Steal Wheels," but either fighting Kim or driving the doom-vee. Except for "Steal Wheels," it doesn't happen. The simple answer is Felix and his wheelchair would totally change the dynamics of combat. It wouldn't be mostly about Kim's cheerleader tumbling kung fu anymore, which is where the show's creaters wanted to keep the focus. Usually Ron is very jealous of his sidekick role and wants to make sure noone else takes his job away. Did Felix do too good a job for Ron's comfort? Or are we just all buds? That's how it seems. They're playing basketball together at the episode's end, and Ron and Felix are such good buddies in "Steal Wheels" that Kim gets jealous. What about Kim? She's tried to use her mom (or other family members), Monique, and been forced by circumstances to use Will Due, Dr. Director, and Bonnie, but she so prefers Ron. In fact, except in exceptional circumstances, Kim wants to work with Ron and only Ron (well, and Rufus). What about Ron and Felix? Is there any explanation why we see so little of their friendship? Ron's experience in "So the Drama" would have been very different if he'd had Felix around to confide in the way Kim has Monique. Maybe using Felix this way would skew the plots too much toward the high school. Maybe Ron is so used to confiding in Kim (more than she does with him) that confiding with Felix (or anyone else, Rufus excepted) when he's having trouble with Kim just doesn't occur to him. Maybe Felix met Zita and the Everlot clique, and hangs with them most of the time. I'm offstage now, drifting through speculation. ———————————————— [end of page 20]

———————————————— [end of page 20] You wouldn't mind if I could comment about a thing or two, please? Ron VS Felix: Felix:Felix is the only son of a Robotics Engeneeir and thus I think that this may somewhat justify why he's relatively intelligent. He's good looking(but in my opinion he's worse looking than Ron). He does have a most mature personality, and this makes him efficient during the missions, and of course he doesn't have a lazy, backlaid personality like Ron. He does also keep a cool head under pressure, in some aspects he's like Kim. Ron:Ron is lazy, imature, random, backlaid personality guy and many other things, but that 's what makes Ron Ron, we could say, and I think I'm right, that Ron is unique not only in being the right guy for Kim, but also in his attitude in missions and daily life, because if Kim gets another sidekick, they will all be either like Felix, somewhat like Erik or the last chance would be like Du. And of course, Kim likes Ron for what he is, and this happens because of his funny/goofy personality. Ron's key aspects: He's funny/goofy, and Kim likes him because of this, not to mention that Kim is used in constantly act like his mother, and she does like this quite a few times if not many, she's used to it and I bet she likes this aspect of their relationship. Although Ron is Ron(what I've mentioned earlier), when he is impeled or stimulated to do something, he shows extreme potential. No, Ron is not an idiot without abilities, in fact, besides from having many abilites, he's also a genius concerning fields related to mechanics engeneering, hydralics, heavy construction, building activities, handwork activities, such as cooking, handcraft, workshop. Don't you see that all these things are close related to one another, he kid's a building genius, he can do practicaly anythnig with his two hands. Of course that in the real world this is somewhat exagerated, but in the KP world it isn't. Yes, there may be some occasions that opposes to this but this is only because of either the storyline of the fun factor(especially the second one). In the Kp world the are super geniuses and a ten year old boy who can create anything, so this also makes the possible for a teenager be able to build anything with his two hands, and that's Ron's case. Of course, other more objective proof are the eps Bad Boy, Sick or Swin and Naked Genius. Naked Genius goes right to that meaning, although some of you think that bad boy is meerly refering to the dark side and not the genius factor, you're wrong, because it's a double meaning. The reason why Ron is better at being evil than Drakken is because he's a greater genius and can build inventions that Drakken isn't capable of. Bad boy and other eps also tells us that Ron is a logical thinker and he creates strategies based on logic, at least his logic, which again tells us that he's a genius concerning this. (I won't write everything now, ask me about this and I will gladly write the rest, time is short). Besides form all this, Ron has greater driving skills than Kim, why do you think the scotter and all those scenes with the scotter exist? And Ron did show to be quite skilled in driving it and otehr devices. The example of Car trouble and other eps are simply becasuse of the fun factor.

Besides form all this, Ron has greater driving skills than Kim, why do you think the scotter and all those scenes with the scotter exist? And Ron did show to be quite skilled in driving it and otehr devices. The example of Car trouble and other eps are simply becasuse of the fun factor. I would like to make this clear. KP is a cartoon with deep psychological concepts behind it, sometimes it shows to be psychological complex, others it shows to be simple. And this complexity is also show in several levels, which makes a whole bunch of theories possible, both simple and/or complex. About Bad Boy, the thing is that although what is most said, which is that Ron is a natural at being evil, which in cartoon aspects does work and can be accepted, still you can't exclude the fact that the kid is in fact a genius. Saying that Ron is genius due to Bad Boy, isn't an hiperbole, nor does the episode simply state that the boy is smarter than he looks, what the ep says is that he is genius, in both practical usues and logical/theoretical. He inventions that Ron built, which I think that in most of these situations he didn't have almost any if not any equipment available, which makes his accomplishments even more impressive. Now, in order to build all this in a short amount of time, with little equipment and the complexity that requires, the must have thought of some quite astoninchingly effective methods of building this colossal inventions, this shows us that besides from the kid having incredible building abilities(proving that he is a practical genius) he is also a logical/theoretical genius. If you see closely he applys all this in the tactics he uses against Kim, and even in other episodes. And even many of Ron's strategies are way more complicatd than those of Drakken's or Kim's or Shego's, that is when he steps up. Proof: (And all this isn't neither an exageration or does have a false/alternative meaning) Logical Genius proof: Firstly his behaviour, Ron has classic geek reactions, but in many of his randomess and distractions, you will find that he creates he thinks of the most unexpected results, probabilities or situations or reasons. All these thoughts of his aren't thought everyday. Secondly his vocabulary, a complex vocab like his can only be developed if he is in the presence of adults, but this is a cartoon and they have somewhat excluded this detail(after all would you see a character that is always around adults in a show like this, but all the rest remains, he has almost no friends, he's socaily excluded and others, and now the greatest proof is in Ron's pre-k but I'll talk about this later. Sink or Swim: He comes up with original misdirection tactics against Gill, he makes Gill not suspect of his apparent vulnerability buy telling that he was out of gas. Also he jumpes to the water knowing he could then trap Gill. The also fooled Gill by making him think that he was under that bear fur. He also quickly thought that he could escape in the secret tunnel, if you look carefully, this resourseful, quick thinking of Ron is shown in many eps. The reason why he made a wrong comclusion about why he had been this good in the end doesn't mean anything. it only means that he kid may develop wrong ideas due to his life experience, and that he is also quite distracted, but the main reason for this ending is because they wanted those last lines from Kim just to prove that she supports him and cares for him and prove Ron's severe lack of self estime and confindence. The ep of Falseto Jones: Ron comes up with a thought which is that instead of the owner, it's the dog who is the villain. Now with all that we have seen in KP, it wouldn't be surprising to see this, and imagine if this had really happen, would you have thought of this? Ron in pre-k: pure and simple, no other explanation, he kid is a genius. By that time he shows to understand the concepts behind rules, he tells that without rules there is social anarchy, he also knows what opposable thumbs is. Besides from understanding many concepts which are too much complicated for kids of his age to think of, he also has an extremely large amount of knowledge for his age. IF you see Kim's reactio nto Ron's statement of opposable thumbs, she simply says a yes that clearly mean that she both dan't understand a thing that he said and that she doesn't care a thing about what he said, them she asker him if he wants to play. My theory is that Kim affected Ron's personality, preferences and behaviour by almost in total. Thus he's adopted a backlaid and lazy behaviour because Kim was laways in charge. Thus he adopted this feeling and by soo many times repeating it, he simply started only to act this way almost by instinc(I mean, in a great majority of times, he simply doesn't think is anything else than this), from a very young age and also adopted a state of psychological uninterest and inactivity in both stimulation and interests. After all during one's infance, that's when his character his still forming and is most affected. And many more eps where this is shown. The proof of this is soo many that I won't tell everything now. But remember this, just becasue Ron is the comical relief and has that backlaid attitude, it simply does mean that he isn't a genius if fact the show is filled with proof and clues. I'ii write the rest later.

Okay, Thorius, I made you a new thread ronstoppable.proboards89.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rufus&thread=1143499064&page=1and copied these remarks over there. It's gonna take me awhile to finish reposting all this old stuff, and the overall flow of the discussion'e gonna get confusing if we keep flashing back and forth from last July to now. Adding to the Season 3 thread is fine. That's the original thread, all completely there, without the same flashback trouble. And it'll be fine to add to this season 2 thread after I restore it all. (The original was accidently deleted, but I found most of the material in Google's cache.) But meanwhile, if you, and anyone else who's interested in resuming the discussion, would use the comment thread, I'd appreciate it. It'll just be less confusing that way.

Re: Reevaluation of K/R feelings (Season 2) page 21Okay, to follow the new discussion Thorius Maximus started, go to the “New Comments” thread.
Here we’re going back to July 2005, and the episode “Motor Ed.” Forlong’s responding to the pictures I posted with my initial comments on this episode (look at the “page 20” section on the bottom of the previous page of this thread.————————————————————————————— Post by Forlong on Jul 3, 2005, 8:02pm Jul 3, 2005, 2:00pm, cloudmonet wrote: Ron looks about ready to put his arm around Kim, and Kim doesn't look like she'd object...
