Will Kim or Ron change last names after marrying?

I believe we're on a roll here with all these wedding polls. How about one more? ;D

As anyone here knows, once a couple is married, they have the option of changing their last (family) names. Now of these days, both men and women can change their names.

Most times, I hear the women will change their last name to his. Rarely would I hear the men changing to hers. Sometimes, the women would just add his to hers. Other times, the women will change to his name but keep her maiden name for professional reasons.

So given Ron and Kim's personalities, who will change last names after Ron and Kim tied the knot? Will Kim change to Ron's last name? Will she just add his to hers (Possible-Stoppable)? Or will Ron change to hers? Etc.

What do you think?

I think Kim would definitely change her name. She's not too proud to change it and she might keep 'Possible' as her professional name, but Kimberly Ann Stoppable isn't too bad, either. As other people have pointed out, it sounds almost like Kim 'Unstoppable.'

Definitely would change it. She would do it for her love of Ron, but also becuase she is traditional in that way. Heck the name does sound cool too. Really I don't see why she wouldn't. now to save us from another poll the real question should be would the name Team Possible change?

I think she'd change it, but keep it as Kim Possible for the world saving thing, Kim Stoppable won't get people asking for help (unless they already know her).

well, I had this discussion myself when I got married five years ago...

I would think that Kim, being a bit of a traditionalist (for lack of any information to the contrary) would take Ron's last name. BUT I also think that for the sake of Team Possible and the crime-fighting rep that she's kept to this point, she would keep Possible as the website and as her "professional" name. WWW.KimStoppable.com would throw a LOT of peeps off the track if they were looking for www.kimpossible.com, obviously.

I'm with Aers that Kim would mostly change her last name, but keep her maiden name for professional reasons. Team Possible is well known throughout the world and it would indeed throw people into a loop if they have to change their mindtracks of thinking of her as Kim Stoppable instead of Kim Possible.

So by family and friends, they'll be known as Ron & Kim Stoppable, but by professional standards, they'll still be known as Team Possible - Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable, if they stay in the hero business. (Regardless whether they stay in the hero business or start other careers, Kim would still likely keep her maiden name for professional reasons.)

Kim's famous. Women who become famous usually keep using whatever name they became famous as, at least for professional purposes. I'm sure she'd answer to either Ms. Possible (Miss no longer fitting) or Mrs. Stoppable.

I think she would change her last name to Ron's, of course, but she would keep her maiden name for professional reasons, of course. Since she's well known all over the world, I think people would get confused if they started calling her Kim Stoppable instead of Kim Possible. But that's just my opinion.

Have to add my two cents worth. I think KP is a traditionalist when it comes to certain social proprieties (a boy asking a girl out to a dance, etc...)

In "Emotion Sickness" remember she wanted Ron to ask her out, because a girl needed a date to go. Ok, that may not be the best example, but Kim still wants to follow some sort of protocol.

Kim is very independent when it comes to what a girl can DO (as in saving the world, equal pay, doing what right's), not not always on a societal level. I don't see her demanding to dress in a boy's dreesses.

Her mother is a Possible by marriage. The show calls them "Dr's Possible" and I haven't seen any real reason why Kim would feel any different.

I recall that on the Friends tv show, when Monica and Chandler were first engaged, she made some jokes about keeping her maiden name, but after they got married for the most part, (at least at social functions) they were "The Bings."

Now if Ron said something about that there was some skill or talent that boys were better than at than girls, there would be some holy heck to pay. .. And KP would most likely do it, just to prove otherwise.

I think she will takes Ron's name because she is definitely a traditionalist. She will probably keep her name for her profession since she is famous as Kim Possible. I don't definitely think that she will add Ron's name to hers because then that will be too long. Think about it.
