Here I go again, asking what I hope will be a somewhat discussion worthy question.
Working on the K/R shippy thread and watching maddrmatt's Could it Be video I was struck with a question of alternate possibilities and their outcome.
What if Ron had not reacted negatively to Kim's advances in Emotion Sickness?
What if Ron had romantic feelings for Kim at that point and once Kim started pursuing him instead of freaking out and running away he reciprocated?
How would this have changed things? Once the moodulator was broken would Kim and Ron continue dating? Would Kim break up with him saying that it was all the moodulator? Would their friendship be able to handle Kim breaking up with Ron after that?
For my thoughts. I think that Kim and Ron would have started dating after that. As anyone who follows the K/R shippy thread knows, I am in the camp that thinks Kim has been pursuing Ron in season 3. Thus if the moodulator had been what it took to make Ron admit that he also loved Kim, then great for both of them.
So, what would have changed because of that?
Bonding
I don’t remember much from this episode that would have been changed by Ron and Kim dating. Although, it might have been a very humorous turn about to have Bonnie and Barkin have to tag along with Kim and Ron on a date. Could you imagine Barkin when they tried to kiss goodnight.
Bad Boy
Now this one would have been very interesting. Instead of just having Ron be Kim’s friend who turned evil, having Ron be Kim’s boyfriend/love interest turned evil would have been fabulous copy. The bringing a date to the wedding would not have been much of an issue, but I could still see Ron trying to act like a “bad boy” to impress Kim. It also would have possibly made the whole Ron sneaking into Kim’s bedroom at night scene a lot more interesting. I also think that one of those old villain cliché’s like Ron saying to Kim, “I need an evil queen to rule the world’s supply of nacos with me. Booyaahahahaha!” would have been perfect.
Dimension Twist
Not much about this episode would need to change.
Overdue
Not much here that would need to change.
Roachie
This one is a toughy. It is an anomaly in season 3. Kim spends a lot of time being upset with Ron for the way that he acts in this one. However, I am not sure that had they been a couple that it would have made much of a difference to the storyline. She might have been more understanding and compassionate of Ron’s fears, or maybe not.
And the Molerat Will be CGI
This one would have been interesting in that it would have allowed the movie to incorporate a love interest element. Possibly ramping up the tension if the love interest angle wasn’t handled to Kim’s satisfaction. Other then that not much to change here.
Rappin’ Drakken
They act so much like a couple in this episode that for all intents and purposes they are dating. The only change that I could see might be to “The Naked Mole Rap.” I could see Ron saying “my girlfriend, Kim Possible” instead of “my best friend, Kim Possible.”
Gorilla Fist
Now this episode would need to be almost completely rewritten. If Kim and Ron had been dating there is no way that Ron would have run off with Yori like that without telling Kim something.
The only thing that I can think of is that Ron would tell Kim as much as he could about Yamanouchi without giving away that it is a secret ninja school. Perhaps that the head of the school had been kidnapped by Monkey Fist to get to Ron or something. Kim would then of course insist in coming along. Actually, that could be rather comical. Kim goes along on the mission with Ron and Yori. She is jealin’ the whole time about the way that Yori looks at Ron and Ron has to go to all sorts of lengths to make sure that Kim doesn’t notice any of the ninja stuff. That has a lot of possibilities for humor.
Team Impossible
It has been a long time since I have seen this episode, but I can’t really think of anything off of the top of my head that would need to be changed.
So the Drama
Now this one is a real toughy. Eric is a no go, and seeing as how Kim and Ron have met Drakken a couple of times now dating I think that he would realize this. So how does he go about it? Perhaps, he does as someone else wrote in a fanfiction and he makes a clone of Ron, while removing Ron from the scene. Kidnapping would work, but I think that stranding him somewhere remote would work better for the story. Ron has to fight to get back to Middleton to warn Kim about the Ron clone while the Ron clone takes the place of Eric in the story. This then leaves the problem of who tells Kim about the diablos. Perhaps Rufus, or Ned? All in all, it would work, but would lose a good deal of its tension since Kim and Ron would already be dating. However, that could easily be offset by a great fight scene between Ron and the Ron clone.
So, what does everyone else think?
