Kim Possible: The Unknown
CH:2, The Meeting
By Xander Mahaffy
Over Europe
3 hours had past since the jet had taken of from Middleton. Ron had already begun snacking on the little peanut bags ever since he had gotten on the plane. Kim however was doing some research with Wade to find any information of the Black Phoenix cult.
“So, you’re saying that you found nothing on it?” Kim asked.
“Nothing, I tried looking everywhere for any info. It’s like they just appeared out thin air.”
This didn’t sound good at all to Kim, without any info on this cult; they wouldn’t know what they were going to be up against. “Then that’s gonna make this more difficult,” said Kim.
“Sorry I couldn’t be of any more help, Kim,” said Wade with a look of disappointment, “Do you want me to keep searching?”
“Please and thank you,” replied Kim.
“Alright, I’ll see you guys later,” and with that, he logged of the Kimmunicator.
Kim put the Kimmunicator back in her pocket and resumed thinking of the Black Phoenix cult. How could they not show up on anything, there has to be something about them, she thought; if not, how are we going to know what to look for? Ron then took a minute from his peanut scarfing to notice that Kim seemed a little worried.
“Hey Kim, what’s on your mind?” Ron asked.
“It’s just that, well, I’m just a little worried about this mission Ron. I’ve checked with Wade, but there’s no information whatsoever on this “Black Phoenix Cult”.
Ron just stared at her. “And this worries you, why?” Ron asked.
“Isn’t it obvious, Ron?” asked Kim. “I meant, why would Arthur pay us five million dollars just to be his bodyguards? “If he’s just paying us for just that, these “Black Phoenix guys might be pretty dangerous, and we don’t know anything about them for an advantage.”
“Kim, Kim, Kim,” Ron said in an assured manner. “What makes you think it’s something that we can’t beat?”
“Well, It’s just that I’m a little worried, as I said before, we don’t know anything about them; which could make things difficult.”
Ron just stared at her smiling. “Kim, don’t be worried. You’ve beaten more villains then I could count, heck you’ve even wrestled a shark with you bare hands.”
“Well, you’ve got a point there, Ron.”
“Exactly Kim, and also, you didn’t know anything about Drakken when we first meet him, and you beat him easily. I’m sure that this “Black Phoenix” whatever be a piece of cake for us.”
“Yeah, maybe you’re right Ron,” said Kim, and she was truthful to that comment.
Usually Ron wasn’t always right about a few things, but he was right about Kim.
“I know I’m right Kim, I have faith in you, I’ve always had faith you, no matter what,” said Ron, then he went back to eating his peanuts.
Kim then felt a little better; she loved it when Ron was positive about a mission (expect with MonkeyFist).
“Thanks Ron,” she said, and then she gave him a little kiss on his cheek. Ron instantly froze from eating his peanuts and made a little crooked smile as his eye twitched a little. Kim just smiled. She thought it was cute when Ron acted that way.
After a few seconds, Ron returned to reality and smiled at Kim. “Thanks for that KP,” he said. “No big,” she said, and Ron went back to eating some of the last peanuts and Kim went back to researching as much as she could.
True, Kim felt a little better about the mission by Ron’s positive manner, but still she was a little worried. Not only about the mission, but something else, who was that man back at Middleton, she asked herself. Where did he come from, and how did he disappear like that. Questions like that rambled through here mind, but one question seemed to stick to her mind more than the others, why did Kim feel like she was sinking in icy water when she was staring at him. Kim also felt that somehow, this man somehow felt familiar to her, she had never seen this man before, but he felt somewhat familiar to her. These thoughts were then interrupted by the pilot’s intercom.
“Attention all passengers,” said Martinez on the intercom, “We will be landing in London shortly, please put the food trays in their upright positions and please fasten your seat belts.”
Above Kim and Ron, the seat belt sign appeared and they both fasten their seat belts as the plane began its decent.
London Airport
The plane had already docked at the London airport. Kim and Ron were already gathering their equipment and preparing to leave.
“Thanks for giving us a ride, Martinez,” Kim said to the African pilot.
“After the way you save my African tour guide business, I’m grateful to help.”
“No big, piloting through that sandstorm was like flying through a dust devil,” said Kim.
Martinez just smiled as he closed the door to the plane. Now Kim and Ron were face to face with the London Airport. It was a huge airport, approximately four stories tall. There were tons of stairs and escalators everywhere leading to tons of different directions of the airport. Kim and Ron had a little trouble telling where they were because almost everything looked the same, there were countless stores and restaurants that made every walkway look almost the same. There were millions of people also bustling everywhere, friends being reunited again, business men going to around the world on company business, and countless family members greeting each other with hugs and kisses.
To Kim and Ron, they felt very small this large airport. As they walked through the aisles to get to the main terminal, they kept bumping into people because of the large quantity of the airport.
“Jeeze, this placed is-oof-packed,” said Ron as he bumped into another passenger.
“Well, what do-oof- you expect, Ron?” Kim said as she also bumped into a passenger, “It’s a huge international airport, there’s hundreds of people from all over the world here.”
“I know that KP, but still, I wish this place wasn’t so-oof-cramped!” said Ron as he bump into, yet, another passenger, “and you know what else bothers me, that fact that I haven’t seen any Bueno Naco restaurants in here.”
“Ron, I’m sure that there’s a Bueno Nacho here in this airport, but right now, lets just focus on getting to the entrance and the mission.”
“Fine KP, but don’t blame me if we happen to run out of snackage.”
Kim just rolled her eyes, but she thought Ron was cute when he acted that way.
After a long walk though the airport, they finally managed to get to the main terminal. They could see hundreds of people coming in and out of the airport. This would make it more difficult on finding their limozine that Arthur had ordered for them.
“I can’t see a thing with all these people around,” Ron complained as he tried jumping to see their pickup man.
“I’m sure that they’re around here somewhere,” said Kim, and she was right. Just the moment she had said that statement, she spied a man holding a sign that said “KIM POSSIBLE & RON STOPPALBE”. She then signaled to Ron that she had found their ride. They both ran over to the man holding the sign. He was probably the driver because he was wearing some type of fancy suit.
“Excuse me, hi, I’m Kim Possible, and we’re the party.”
“And I’m Ron Stoppable, make sure you don’t forget the name.”
The driver just stared at Ron with a raised eyebrow, but then he turned back his attention towards Kim. “Ah, Miss Possible, good to see you,” said the driver shaking Kim’s hand, “My name is Albert, and I will be your driver. “Arthur is waiting for you inside, he will brief you on the mission as we head to the Houses of Parliament.”
Great, Kim thought, maybe he could provide some info of the black phoenix cult.
Albert then led then outside to what awaited Kim and Ron, a large and long, black limozine. It was almost longer than Kim’s house, and it also had a mini pool in the back, but it wasn’t filled. It also had instead of a little antenna, a small satellite dish next to the pool. Kim and Ron just stared at the limousine in awed, Ron’s mouth was gaping a little open. Albert then went to the back door and opened it to reveal Arthur sitting inside. He looked just as he was seen on Kim’s computer, a man in his mid-sixties, with a short white beard protruding from his chin. However, Kim noticed something that she didn’t see on the screen, his body looked a lot older then his age. His body seemed very thin, as though he was older than 60 (which he probably was), his hands looked old and frail, which were covered in liver spots. He also had in his hands, a large cane with an eagle head at the top end.
“Ah, Miss Possible, it is good to see you,” said Arthur.
“Thanks,” Kim said as she and Ron climbed into the limousine. Inside, the entire limousine looked very fancy and costly. The seats were covered in fine black leather; there was a small bar on the side, a little refrigerator next to it, and a large TV standing in the corner. Kim and Ron just starred in awed at the sight of the interior. Ron’s mouth gaped open a little more.
“I take it that you like my limousine,” said Arthur.
“Is it that obvious?” Kim asked blushing a little.
Arthur just smiled. “Your friend’s mouth is gaping wide open,” he said pointing at Ron with his delicate fingers.
“Sorry,” Ron said, “It’s just that, it must have taken a fortune to buy this limo.”
“Yes, well, it was it little pricey, but nothing I can’t afford,” said Arthur, “Please sit, it’s going to be long drive.”
Kim and Ron both took their seats, Albert took his place at the drivers seat, and the limo began its drive.
“I suppose you’re a little hungry, so I’ve prepared some tea and crumpets for us,” said Arthur pointing at a small tray from the wall, “Please help yourself.”
Ron grabbed some crumpets, which he then handed to Kim, but she shook her head, so he grabbed some for himself, while Kim just grabbed a teacup and poured herself some tea. After a few sips, Kim then was about to ask Arthur about the cult, when he then spoke, as though he read her mind.
“I suppose now, you two want to know more about the Black Phoenix cult, why they’re after me, and why they don’t appear on any references.”
“Well, yes,” said Kim, “I’ve tried researching everywhere, but there’s no info, whatsoever on it.”
“I’d figure you would, trying to get ahead of the mission,” he said with his face down looking distressed. Then he gave out a long sign. “Allow me to explain. The Black Phoenix Cult is a group of religious zealot masochists and sadists.”
Ron had just finished his last crumpet, “……….I’m sorry, zealot what?” he asked in confusion.
“Zealot masochists and sadists,” Arthur corrected for him, “People who receive pleasure in causing pain and suffering upon others, and upon themselves.” Ron gulped at the idea, so did Kim, she was starting not to like where this was going, but yet, that definition did describe someone she did know.
“No big, I already have foe that fits that description, her name’s Shego, does that name ring a bell?” she asked.
“Yes, and I do recall that she’s wanted in eleven countries, am I not correct?” said Arthur smiling a bit.
“Not to mention, she also has a very big grudge against KP here,” said Ron thumbing towards Kim.
“Indeed,” said Arthur, “And also, wasn’t she involved with Dr. Drakken in the biggest world domination scheme ever to hit the earth?”
Kim then looked puzzled. “I thought you said you didn’t know-”
“I did some research on you and your foes before you came, and I must say, I’m impressed with you Kim Possible.”
Kim just blushed a little and Ron smiled at her. “Yeah you should be, Arthur my man, cause no one here can beat Team Possible.” Kim blushed even more. Arthur just smiled more.
“Yes,” Arthur continued, “you two do make a great team and a great couple.” Now it was Ron’s turn to blush a little. “But let’s continue with the matter at hand, shall we?
“As I said before, the Black Phoenix is a dangerous cult, because they are sadists and masochists, they perform rituals, such as suicides and sacrifices to either themselves or other victims: such as people from other lesser cults, or just random people from off the streets.”
“Why do they do this?” Kim asked, but deep down, she didn’t exactly want to know the answer.
“To appeal to their, so called, god.”
“And what god is that?” Ron asked.
“Isn’t it obvious Mr. Stoppable,” asked Arthur? Ron just stared at Arthur confused. “Their name says it all, their god is a Black Phoenix.”
“Oh, now I get it,” said Ron now fully understanding.
“But why all these rituals,” Kim asked, “What are they planning to accomplish?”
“They believe, Miss Possible, that fresh blood of there enemies; which could be anybody mind you, will bring their god to life and recreate the world in it’s image.”
“They just sound like regular psycho whacko to me,” said Ron.
“Phhhhhhhhhhhh, whackos,” said Rufus as he let out a raspberry. Arthur however didn’t take to notice Rufus’s raspberry.
“They may be whackos, Mr. Stoppable, but they’re dangerous whackos.”
Now Kim was a little concerned about Arthur’s knowledge of this cult. “Wait, how is that you know so much about this cult, when there aren’t any references what so ever?” Arthur then bowed down his head to face the floor and a slow tear emerged from his eye.
“Oh, I’m sorry, did I insult you?” Kim apologized.
“No Miss Possible, you didn’t,” said Arthur as he wiped his tear away, then he let out a long sigh, “It’s just that………………………..my son was captured by them, and I got to see them for myself.”
Kim was a little shocked to hear this. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know,” she apologized again.
“No, it’s alright Miss Possible,” and he just sat there looking down at the floor for a long time.
Finally, Ron asked, “What happened?”
“…………………..Two months ago, in the middle of the night back at my mansion, my son was captured right in front of my face. They took him away from me.”
“What did you do?” Ron asked.
“I did the only thing I could do, I hired the best men money could, bounty hunters, spies, anyone who could get my son back.”
“Did you find him?” Kim asked, hoping the answer was yes.
Arthur just sat there, still staring at the floor. “…………..Three days after my son’s capture, one of the bounty hunter’s I had hired, named Halo Rife, found him in an alley.”
Oh good, Kim thought, and she took another sip of her tea to calm her nerves. Ron took a small bit from his crumpet to also calm his nerves. But Arthur wasn’t finished.
“Well, maybe I should say, he found……….a piece of him in that alley.” Kim then choked a little on her tea after hearing this. Ron also choked on his crumpet.
“It was then I knew that my son gone forever, and I never saw him again,” continued Arthur. He then leaned over to grab a frame photo on a cabinet near his seat. “This is the last photograph of my son before his capture,” he said handing Kim the picture. Kim put her tea on her lap and took the picture from Arthur, which he then resumed his attention back to the floor. Ron leaned over to Kim to get a good look at the photo. Upon it was a boy around the age of probably 17 wearing a football uniform. He had brown smooth hair that was combed back in a unique hairstyle. He also had a large mandible chin and a muscular body that beard a striking resemblance to…………
“ERIK?!” Kim and Ron both yelled in unison.
Arthur then lifted his head surprised. “You know my son, Erik?” he asked leaning towards Kim, “Is he alright? Is he alive?!” Arthur asked with a look of hope in his eyes.
Kim just stared at him; she didn’t know what to say to his face. The Erik she knew was a synthodrone created by Drakken. If she told him that, she would break his heart, and that was the last thing she wanted, but she didn’t want to lie. She then looked at Ron for an answer. Ron already knew what was going on in Kim’s mind and he nodded slowly.
“Uh, no, the Erik we knew, sir, was a synthodrone created by Drakken,” and after hearing these words, the look of hope in his eyes slowly melted away to disappointment. He then leaned back to his seat and resumed looking at the floor. Kim’s heart sank to her stomach; she had never felt so bad in her life. She wanted to make Arthur happy, but what could she say.
“Oh well, at least he’s in a better place now,” said Arthur looking at the floor again.
Kim felt terrible. “I’m so sorry,” Kim said as she placed her hand on his knee to comfort.
He took his gaze away from the floor and looked at Kim and Ron. He smiled at her and thanked her for her comfort.
“Thank you Miss Possible; now to get back to the mission at hand,” said Arthur with a calm tone in his voice. Kim’s heart then lifted, she felt a lot better knowing that she made him feel better. “As you may know, you two are hired as my personal bodyguards.” Arthur continued.
“So how’s this going to go?” Ron asked, “Are you going to have, like, a secret meeting or something?”
“Not exactly, Mr. Stoppable,” Arthur answered, “Our meeting will take place within the ball out in the open.”
Kim and Ron just stared at Arthur. Was this guy joking, out in the open?!?! He would be an open target, they thought. “Uh Arthur?” Kim asked, “Don’t you think it’s a little dangerous to be out in the open?”
“I’m aware of the risks, Miss Possible.”
“But don’t you-”.
“Please Mr. Stoppable, I have my reasons.”
“Which are what?” Ron asked looking at Arthur as if he was insane.
“……………………Revenge. I want those men to be stopped in front of my own eyes. I want you two to defeat them so they can get a taste about what I had to endure.”
“You’re doing all this for revenge?” Kim asked.
“You don’t know what it feels like to have someone so dear to you be taken away from you and never be seen again.”
“Well, actually, I’ve had a feeling like that before,” said Kim as she looked a Ron.
“Good, then you understand,” said Arthur.
“I guess so.”
Ron then raise his hand, “Hey Arthur, I was just wondering, how do we know that they’re coming to get you tonight?”
“Did I say they would? Maybe they will, maybe they won’t, but I’m betting they will, because tonight is going to be my first and last public appearance since my son was captured.”
“But how do you know that they’re after you,” Kim asked, this question was bothering her ever since they got in the limo, “Maybe they’re just random and attack anyone.”
“I hate to say this, but I’m going to have to disagree with you Miss Possible, I don’t know why they are after me, but they just are.”
“How do you know?” Ron asked.
“………………..Because, in the alley where my son was found, there was a message written in my son’s blood on the wall.” Kim and Ron both felt a little sick. “The message said:
‘Liberate vosmet, ex inferis’.”
Kim knew that the message was Latin, but she didn’t know these words. “Okay, Latin is not one of my strong points, so could you speak English?” Ron asked.
“The message says:
Save yourself ,” Arthur paused, “
From hell .”
Kim and Ron both gulped after hearing this, even Rufus gulped and took refuge in Ron’s pocket. Now, they both felt very nervous about this mission.
Then the limo slowly was slowing to a stop. “Ah, we’ve arrived,” said Arthur looking out the window. Kim and Ron then snapped out of it and took a moment to look at the House of Parliament. It was a large building about four stories tall. It looked almost like the Buckingham Palace, except a lot smaller. All around it were British flags perched around the building, swaying in the wind. “Now,” said Arthur getting up, “If you would kindly please follow me, I’ve prepared a special attire for you two tonight, so you won’t look suspicious.” Albert then came to the door and opened it for Arthur as he got out. Kim and Ron both still were sitting in their seats. This was probably going to be the toughest mission they’ve ever been on and the most dangerous. Kim and Ron looked at each other. Then Ron made a small smile.
“No matter what happens KP, we can handle it.” Ron told Kim, acting unafraid of the mission ahead.
Kim just smiled, “No big.” And they grabbed each others hands and they followed Arthur in, ready to face anything that this mission could dish out.
