From PROBOARDS staff...A support question was recently posted on the PROBOARDS support forum asking if adult (rated M, NC-17, etc.) stories were allowed. Here is the answer: This should be in the support board so I will move it there for you after I answer the question. The answer is all content has to be viewable by anyone 13 years and up even if you have the content in a password protected board because as you said people can lie about their age. Any kind of talk such as roleplaying that has general sex in it would be a TOS violation and would get your forum deleted. If the content is anything you wouldn't want a 13 year old seeing or is what would be considered to be 'adult' then it is best to avoid it altogether. Anyone posting a story that would take it into the "adult" category is subject to serious action from the staff. Do not post adult content or LINKS to your adult stories. If you find a story has adult content, please copy/paste that content into a PM and send it to the staff immediately. Thank you.

I thought it was kind of obvious!

I thought it was kind of obvious! I know. I mean nobody would be stupid& foolish enough to post adult (rated M, NC-17, etc.) stories here on the forum. I mean come on now. There are other places for those stories.

Actually, there has been several examples of this over the past few months. We aren't trying to be the Fun Police here and killing all your entertainment. We are trying to protect this board from getting deleted out of existance.
Hopefully, this "reminder" will keep everyone on the straight and narrow.

I do recall a time when we had a lot of adult material going around...I'm sure glad that's over. Even at my age I still don't enjoy that stuff... Just because I'm nineteen doesn't mean I have to find 'mature' stories and art entertaining.

I am concerned as well about indirect links. I have posted a link to my FF.net profile on several occasions, and there used to be a mild "M" rated fic there (I've since moved all of my adult material to more appropriate places under a different screen-name so folks googling CA won't accidentally run across it) There are also those of us who advertise our own personal websites, and mine has a link that leads back to FF.net (again, I only have "T" rated stories there now)

Indirect links shouldn't be a problem, as any website clearly states that they are not responsible for the contents of linked sites. Legally, there shouldn't be any danger.

I write lots of M fics.... 'Course, a lot of them are KiGo, so I don't expect that many positive comments from this board for the few T rated stories I do post here. I actually got into "adult content" (read: porn) at age 13, so I know how damaging it can be to someone that age. Looking back, I wish I hadn't looked at some of the things I did. Of course, now I'm mature and I can handle it, but sure as hell I wasn't back then and I find this ruling to be both fair and very much needed. I clearly label all of my M fics and provide very explicit warnings out of respect to younger readers who may not be able to handle the content. Of course, more often than not, this just leads to more youngsters reading the stories. Still, my M stories are neither disturbingly violent nor sexually explicit (that would be MA, which ffnet doesn't allow), and the rating is mostly for language. However, I understand exactly where you guys are coming from. There are other places for that kind of thing. Places that verify your age. I never have and never will post an M rated story on this site. This is a family site, and I respect that. Let's hope everyone else does as well.

It seems if anything isn't allowed, then people get more exciteted to read it... its a instict becaues people assume it is somthing real good. I am not taking phsycology in high school...

The only "fic" I ever wrote was rated M and not for sexual content, it was due to swearing - a lot of swearing and references to drugs and suicide.

And all of that would be a violation of PROBOARDS TOS as well. Only if he posted it here, right? If he posted the story here OR he posted a LINK to the story here it would be a problem. PROBOARDS considers DIRECT links to inappropriate material the same as if you post it on the site. Indirect links aren't scrutinzed as closely.

PROBOARDS considers DIRECT links to inappropriate material the same as if you post it on the site. Indirect links aren't scrutinzed as closely. So let me make sure I have this correct... If I write an M rated fic and host it at ff.net, I couldn't put a direct link to it on this board. BUT, if I posted a link to my profile page at ff.net that has a link to the M-rated fic on it, that would be okay? --Erin M.

Yep.
Strange, though, that sites are held responsible for links people post there... Well, if it helps.
