I'm wondering about what the standards here for fics containing Lime. As it isn't exactly adult material, but some might consider it that way.
And actually, M rating translates into R, which isn't NC-17 which is what has been stated in the rules. If it was rated MA, then it'd equate to NC-17, but nothing has been stated about R rated material.

Hold on, wait. Is swearing a TOS violation, or does it have to be "lots of swearing?" And a reference to drugs is a TOS violation? And suicide? Suicide is a TOS violation? What about a reference to suicide? What about murder? Is murder a TOS violation? A reference to murder?
Or is graphic, on-screen (so to speak) death a violation, whereas a Disney-style death would be OK?
Just trying to get a hold on these rules - they seem strict, yet vague. Which is not as good a combination as smooth and satisfying.

Allow me to clarify our policy...
We want to play it safe for now. So, here is the deal. If your story could be shown on cartoon network (except during Adult Swim), then it will be fine. Anything beyond that is not allowed to be posted as a direct link. You can reference your story and indicate its located in your personal area at ff.net and then link to ff.net, but you can't link directly to the story if its not "cartoon network" ready.
Does that clear it up?

That's more than fair I think.
Yes, we DO want to be able to have you writers advertise your work, but please understand that the staff here has to abide by the rules of PROBOARDS and keep this board alive and healthy.
THANKS for the understanding and cooperation.

The funny thing is, if I actually had kids, I wouldn't like them watching a lot of what is on CN.

The funny thing is, if I actually had kids, I wouldn't like them watching a lot of what is on CN. I'm not a fan of CN myself and I discourage my children from watching a lot of things on there. However, I wanted to give as much leeway as possible on these stories. Since the sensors of CN seem to categorize everything on there fit for 13 year olds to watch, I felt it was a safe medium to choose as a limit on content. We could have gone "Disney" as our limit, but that would be too conservative and unnecessarily restrictive. There are some pretty edgy things on CN, so that should allow most writers to be able to promote their stories and should keep us from having any TOS violations since its still a cartoon channel and approved for 13 year old viewing. Keep in mind, this policy is a "general" limit. That means if you keep it under this "limit" you should be fine. However, the staff still reserves the right to delete any thread/post if we feel its a violation to the PROBOARD TOS or for other good reasons.

What I don't get is... you say that it would be right if its shown on a cartoon network, but what kind of cartoon network? I'd like to know if this can be taken to the levels of Anime, where there is some mild sexual content/reference or simply sexual humor from time and things like that, not to mention the violence. I'm not going for "torture"-kind of violence, but most characters do bleed in the fights I write.

THIS cartoon network: www.cartoonnetwork.com/Anything shown in any cartoon on this network (EXCEPT ADULT SWIM SHOWS) is fair game. If your stories are below this threshold, you can post a direct link to your story. If you go beyond that threshold, then please don't link to it directly

I still don't get why network TV shows consider the human body obscene, yet have no problem showing extremely graphic violence. Ah well.

Joe Because sexual content is thousands of times more corrupting to young minds then violence. Certain types of violence mind you, graphic violence like they show in slasher movies still does a number on the mind no matter what age you are. Anyway, getting back on topic: Do these rules mean that i won't be able to post my "Marine" story here because it's a war fic?
