I decided to start this thread to ask a question to anyone that is interested in reading fanfictions that are different from others. I was checking out some stories on fanfiction.net, and I came across Paragon. While reading this, I became very uneasy, yet I couldn't help but read the whole thing. It took me about an hour and I have to say that I really liked the story, but I suddenly feel disturbed by most of what happened in it. This was the first Horror/Romance fiction that I've ever read under the KP category. I loved the romance aspects of the story and the realistic thinking involved, but it ended being an overall sad story. The emotions were played out very well. This was definately a nicely written story, but I just can't get the mental picture out of my head. If you're wondering why I'm posting this, I'm just kinda wondering if there are any stories that you've read that had this kind of effect on you. If you haven't read the story, go ahead and try it, you might not make it all the way through without holding back tears. I was barely able to, at least until the end when I took it all in as a whole. Note that the story is well over a year old, my curiousness got the best of me when I saw this picture around here on the forums: NOTE: I would also like to point out that there are some mature themes in the story and it's not for the faint of heart, it's one of the few I've read that doesn't have a "happy ending"

Little disturbing, just push it all into the back of your mind and it will seem pleasant. I did enjoy reading this piece of writing, thought up really well.

Hmm... the only disturbing fanfic I read, was one that I thought was a Drakken/Shego romance, by the description, but when I read it I discovered it was actually a VERY explicit Kigo story (I didn't finish it).... Yuck!

That was how I felt as I read it. It was so good that I couldn't stop reading, no matter how much I wanted to. I kept going until I read the whole thing, then about five minutes later, the reality of the story started to hit me hard.

Wow, just wow.
Had to read it twice just to make sure it actually went that way.
Like a Steven King book, good but I'm not going to get these disturbing images out of my head for a while.

I loved that story, I just couldn't stop reading until it was finished. Yep, one of the best and most confusing. ;D Too bad Jao never finished the sequel. Or her other Horror fanfic.

Oh yes an amazing story but extremely dark. Frankly either ending works for me. The first one works in my mind because Kim would be able at this point to look past the physical and see what is underneath, she would only see Ron. The second works the way it is explained by Jao. Can only read so many of these though.

Let me just tell you that there's too much blood and death for 11 year olds to handle. Trust me, I'm 11, I read it.

Hmm... I didn't think it was that bad. I have definitely read a lot worse, as far as the blood and death goes. There is one that I am following now in the Ranma fandom that is a crossover with Ranma and Silent Hill. It reminds me a lot of this story, but it is a lot more violent and bloody. (Hey, it is Silent Hill) As far as disturbing fics. The most distrubing fic I have ever read was "Child of the Night" by Kernil Crash written in the Farscape fandom. There is really not a lot of blood and death in this fic, but it has to be the most emotionally disturbing torture fic that I have ever read. It is also one of the best works of lierature that I have read from a non pro. If you haven't read this and know anything at all about Farscape then go to www.crash-debris.com/Fanfiction/24ChildOfTheNight1.html and read it. However, be warned, this is a very rough piece to make it through. It deals with the mental ramifications of torture and what the human mind will go through to protect itself. The actual beauty of this story is that even if you have never watched Farscape the two shows have a similar enough basic premise that a KP fan could download the entire story, do a find/replace of John with Ron, a find/replace of Aeryn with Kim, Scarran with Drakken or any other villain (the others are a little tougher since some of them do not have counterparts in KP) and it would have one hell of an impact. In fact, sometime I might just try to port this to KP. Yeah, right like I have any time. LOL!

I just read the Paragon fic recently. I find it very disturbing and scary (not the writings are bad or anything). I can't handle scary fics like that (yes, I'm such a wuss...). But it was written well.
