With the exception of getting to spike the underwater lab, Ron was nothing but the butt of jokes the whole time, regressing his character all the way to season 1. Is this the same Ron who pwned all those monkey ninjas? Basically i'm just leaving this episode as a gimmick episode like "Grande Size Me". Basically TPTB have stated Ron will experience a big growth this season. My speculation is he will have a huge part in the Finale as well as the big conclusion to his monkey powers in "Oh No, Yono". With that said they sure have regressed his character a few times. I'm not going to the extent of what some posters have said in the Ron In Season 4 Thread but "Grande Size Me" and "Cap'N Drakken" are the exception imo. Ron is put off as Stubborn and Incompatent in these two episodes. I have no Problem with the way Ron was portrayed in any of the episodes besides "Grande Size Me" and "Cap'N Drakken" this season. I guess TPTB can't be PERFECT at everything but so far this season I give them mostly a Gigantic Two Thumbs Up. The exception being "Grande Size Me" and "Cap'N Drakken". Two HORRID episodes.

What really burns my biscuit is that this episode was little more than a 22-minute promo for PotC III! Twenty-two episodes isn't really that much when you think about it, and the fight that was necessary to get Season 4 makes these episodes a truly miraculous gift to the fandom. To put it bluntly, I find it beyond irritating when executives make the decision to burn one of these episodes, merely to advertise another product of their corporate empire, or in the case of "Grande Size Me," to pitch some cheesy public service message that everybody's heard and nobody cares about. With production decisions like this, good plot lines and story ideas are axed, and replaced with contrived, far-fetched, pointless crud like we have seen here. This represents a grand-scale betrayal of not only the show and it's characters, but also it's cast, it's crew, and most certainly it's fans! Bad form, Disney... Bad Form!

Yep "Grande Size Me" and "Cap'N Drakken" are just BAD!
Basically from the build up of expectation a lot of people had about this episode being great it has been a major dissapointment when looking at the scores. Basically imo this will end up being the biggest dissapointment of an episode this season. When reading some comments from the first few pages in this thread I thought this had a chance to be a top 5 Ep this season. The Outcome it seems will have this put in the Bottom 5.
I never expected a lot because i knew there was a lack of K/R. I believe a lot of people feel what i said above this.

4/5Good-ish episode. I liked it, but it felt like a filler. Favorite Parts:- RON IN THE JACUZZI - NAKED! *squeal!* I mean, you see him cover up his junk when Franklin Barkin sees him, so my imagination was working overtime!
- Ron in Blacksmith gear! Hot! He looked so rugged and manly!
- Drakken's feeble 'Yarr' when Shego threatens him.
- A little KiGoness! And a smidgen of DraKim too!
- Bonnie was cooler in this episode. Loved seeing her interaction with the others, but I'd have liked to have seen her be more 'part of the gang' than she was. I think Monique and Bonnie are tight though.
- Reference to 'Extreme Makeover'. That bus was HUGE.
- Ron's "Control Panel" joke about the horses backside lol! And then getting kicked! Ouchies!
- The oldie speak was fun. Ron: "Consarnit!"
Overall, the plot was good - but everything felt kinda rushed. I think the attention should have been shifted from Kim and Ron to Cap'n Drakken. His story seemed a tad bit more interesting to me.

Gee, this episode was one of my favorites. I loved the historic town, Barkin's dad, Kim and Ron as historic swashbucklers, the spirit of Blackeye Brown getting chewed out for calling Shego a wench, and Shego's alternations of admiration and exasperation.
Okay, they did use it as a POTC 3 promotion— but they probably would have used "Piratsy Under the Sea" if they still played Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. They do stuff like this. Not Mark and Bob's fault.
You know, I don't really care if Ron's an action hero, a buffoon, or both. What he did this time out fit the story, fit his character, and he had a sizeable role in a good story.
This one's actually one of my favorites, but then, I love Pirates of Dark Water and Avatar. Kim works just as well historic as she does postmodern. I'd sort of look at this as "Rewriting History," take two, and this time they were allowed to do it right. 5/5.

Somehow I was a bit worried about these lines at the end:
Bonnie: "Can we please dock this thing?" Kim: "No problem Bonnie, I sense a change in the wind."
Was I the only one to think about TPTB wanting to "dock" KP and move on to other things in that segment?

Overall quality: 2 out of 5 Comedy: 4 out of 5 Replay value: 3 out of 5
Plot wise, this didn't do much for me. It was altogether a bit forced and in the end boring. I think its strength was in comedy and character interactions. Like most filler-type episodes, it was nice to see the same characters in a new setting and explore it in their own way.
Favorite bits though: --> Firstly, did it seem like Ron was displaying some favor for the villain side? Yay Pirates! Yay, cool underground lair! And his wish to be the one to destroy the lair. --> And, oh god, did anyone else just die with laughter when he whipped out the pick ax? That goofy manic expression? Oh goodness. I had to pause it and rewind. My laugh was one of those earnest ugly ones with much snorting. :< --> Shego trying to command the ghost pirates.
For what it was, it was okay. It could have been alot worse. At least it's message wasn't too heavy-handed, that the characters' personalities weren't the casualties of a contrived plot (Yeah, Ron was the butt of some jokes, but he wasn't unredeemable and, face it, some of the Ron jokes really brightened my day, whereas the intended jokes in Grande Size were a bit swing-and-a-miss.)

What about the part when Bonnie whispered a joke about the assignment to Kim, for once Kim and Bonnie seemed to get along for the most part, they weren't at each other's throats, like at Camp Wanaweb.
The next episode Mather And Fervent Bonnie shows mercey on Ron.
A lot of you guys were put off by the promotion aspect of the show, I thought the writers made the best of a bad situation. I thought Grandie Size Me was a parody of public service annoucnement episodes, I think most of you didn't get the joke.

I agree that, given what they had to work with, they did enough to keep it fun without making anyone just groan and stop watching. Also, If that was what Grande Size Me was parodying, I think it wasn't executed very well because the laughs just weren't there.

It sucks most of us wont see a new episode untill June 23rd so we can wash this one out of our mind. The Mentor of Our Discontent has to be better then this. (Yes, June 17th Mathter and Fervent airs but a lot of the posters her have seen it). Again it wont take much to beat this episode or grande size me.

I will say this: My boyfriend is a semi-closet Kim Possible fan (though as nerdy over it as me -- he greets me on the phone by 'talking' the theme song D: ), and he asked me what was the worst and most unwatchable Kim Possible episode.
And I honestly couldn't think of one.
That's a serious first for me with any cartoon. There are some so-so episodes, but even Grande Size Me, for all its criticism, isn't just plain 'horrible.'
That's half the reason Kim Possible appeals to me so much. Even in its failings, it's good.

This episode also left me wondering if Barkin doesn't have it in for the entire senior class. I mean, in "Trading Faces," he discontinues the cafateria's "senior table" to fund the SKIP program, and now he unilaterally turns the suposedly "fun & sun" senior trip into a week-long ordeal of uncomfortable clothing and hard labor for the students. He even makes it an asignment so that the poor kids can't bail out after they realize he's pulled the old bait-and-switch routine on them. Gawd, I just wanna punch him so bad! For me, this episode is just 22 minutes that I'll never get back again. Whom at Disney should I sue?

Okay, finally got around to watching this episode.
Wow, this was a toughie for me! On one hand, I love pirates. I love piracy references. However, just like the PotC movies, they can't get away with just doing a piratey reference, they have to make it good.
So... my review is 3/5
Bad points:
The plot was kind of silly. The plot was crammed into a short amount of time. It seemed the KP characters were simply people they were borrowing to tell this silly plot.
Good points:
It wasn't a horrible plot. It was kind of cute. This was a visually stunning episode. The score was fantastic. I loved the piratey references, especially the play on Blackbeard. I loved everyone's outfits. So awesome! Was it just me, or did Ron just look extra hot? Wade was so adorable with his horse! I was just "awwww" Franklin Barkin was hysterical. I loved the bond between Rufus and Remmy.
So, yeah, there were a lot of little things I loved. But wow, this really was a gimmicky episode.

:)A very funny episode but its too bad the senior trip was canceled because there could have been some romantic moments for Kim and Ron. Maybe next time.

Was I the only one to think about TPTB wanting to "dock" KP and move on to other things in that segment? That scene seemed pretty staged to me. Maybe they were foreshadowing something, maybe they were just trying to get in one last piratey pun thing.

^^ It sounded very starwars-y to me, I loved that line!
I half thought she would say, "I sense a disturbance in the force" with the half star wars like theme playing adding to the impact. Did anyone notice the devious smile she had on?

Well it looks like people have mixed opinion about this episode. Some say its nice while some say its on the same page as GSM.This is a mix bag.The review here is mixed while the score at TV.com is pretty high and Youtube score are high too.
Now about the change in the wind line.I think they were either putting one last pirate pun in or the VIP's were expressing that they didnt really like to be forced to do something to promote another thing or it was something else hmmm.............

I usually love Barkin, but when I see this list, I'll help you punch him. And then hug him because I'd feel bad.

Do we even know for sure that the reason they made an episode about pirates was to promote PotC? Couldn't it have just been a coincidence and Disney decided to take advantage of this and air it the day before At World's End came out?
