This is a new game that I've thought up here recently. I'm a fan of NPR's Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!, a radio news quiz that challenges listeners' knowledge on the week's current news headlines. While the main news stories are mentioned, a lot of the material comes from the absurd, funny news that we never hear about. I've been think of a way to bring that here on the forum, and The Fun Board looks like the best route. I just hope it all works out.
Here's how it goes: Each day, I'll post a brief statement from an absurd story in a unique form (be it a quote, statement, etc.). However, there'll be a "who," "what," "where," or "fill in the blank" style question to challenge you all with. From the time I post the question, you all may post whatever is the correct answer to my post. Anything goes! You can post numerous times until you have the right answer. Once the right answer is given by someone, I'll post the correct answer (along with the link to the source where I got the story) and who all got it right. The first person who gets the correct answer gets 2 points, while other people who got the right answer will be awarded 1 point. In the event you all still don't have the right answer, I'll give you all a hint the next day to help you out. If the right answer is still not given, I'll give the answer and news story source, and move on to my next challenge.
Quite lengthy, but here's an example:
"This is the first post of my _____________."
-fill in the blank.
Over the next day or so, there are 10 responses:
Post 1: incorrect
Post 2: incorrect
Post 3: correct 2 points!
Post 4: incorrect
Post 5: correct 1 point
Post 6: correct 1 point
Post 7: incorrect
Post 8: incorrect
Post 9: incorrect
Post 10: correct 1 point
Once a person has the right answer they earn at least 1 point, meaning, don't put down multiple posts of the correct answer. Now, if the right answer still isn't given after a day, I'll give you a hint/clue to the right answer. If there still isn't a right answer after two days, I'll give the right answer to the old news story and we'll move on to the next one. Good? Good.
Alright then! Let's hope this thread catches on *crosses fingers*
