I noticed something - Monique seems to have very similar tastes in men compared to Kim. Is there any potential to her starting to see the same things Kim does in Ron?

I could see it. Especially if Ron hangs out with Monique when not spending time with Kim to teach her the finer points of sidekicking and Monique might make a move. I'd like to see the brawl over that one too.

I think Ron did in Partners

Monique seems to go after guys who are well built. For instance, Ron in Ron The Man, Hirotaka in Exchange, and Brick Flag in So The Drama. Short and thin Ron is only friendship material.
As for Partners, Monique is able to see Ron shine with potential as he makes a donut cannon to fight the monster. That doesn't mean she's crushing on him. As partners of the science experiment, they came through together. But not as bf/gf.

Sure Monique a potential rival till Kim shoves her in the locker and closes the door. Let's face it a lot of girls are potential rivals but only Shego and Yori are able to survive jealin' Kim. Everyone else is in trouble and Shego is more interested in a certain teacher anyway. As for Yori...the ninja must die! At least in Kim's eyes. ;D

Though in Gorilla Fist Monique didn't exactly look happy to be covered in gunk after Kim gets beeped on her Kimmunicator by Wade with info on Ron

Face it, Monique is Kim's "new BF", just as Felix is Ron's "new BF"
This way they both have best friends once they're dating.

When Monique first appears near the end of season one, she seems to like Ron (as a friend) and have a number of things in common with him (Bueno Nacho face stuffing, GWA), but his behavior in "The Ron Factor" and "Partners" seems to turn her off.
Monique and Kim have similar tastes in what's "hot" in boys— Josh, Hirotaka, Erik— but that's not why, in the end, Kim chose Ron. Although Monique melts with romantic envy, or something, during the slow dance with Kim and Ron, the rest of "So the Drama" suggests she doesn't exactly understand Ron's appeal to Kim.
Ron is very special to Kim, but not to Monique. I don't see any likely developments here.

Ron is very special to Kim, but not to Monique. I don't see any likely developments here. But you know what they say though. Women want what they can't have and now that Ron is off the market his value has probably risen. Potential conflict between Kim and any other girl is possible. Including dear old Monique or at least that's what the television has taught me. Good old pointless television programming.

It'll be interesting to see how Bonnie handles K&R being together Well I imagine she'd either mock Ron/Kim or try to steal Ron away from Kim. This being Disney she wouldn't attack along the lines most fanfic writers have her doing. That being of course making fun of the fact that Kim is a virgin and how Ron must be a rebound if she wasn't willing to go that far with him. No Disney will stick to the easily solved melodrama of Bonnie hitting on Ron in one scene and Ron turning her down. After all neither of our heroic duo is allowed to cheat its a bad example for the kiddies.

Yes, I don't think I could handle my favorite tv show becoming that MUCH of a soap opera.

No soap worries. Bob & Mark have flat said that it won't become one.
One hint did say that Bonnie's taunts will be aimed at breaking up the "food chain" defying couple

One hint did say that Bonnie's taunts will be aimed at breaking up the "food chain" defying couple Makes sense. That's what I like about Bonnie she just won't give up. I respect that. Anyway I figure she'd probably go the route of mocking Kim and then turn to Ron. That would after all be the easiest route to break them up when concerning Kim popularity dropping. Ron is protective of her after all and if he thinks he's hurting her he'll back off. I doubt much would come of that though so we'll have to see. Should be interesting.

Bonnie is way to smart to simply walk up to Kim when Ron is around makes it all that more hard for her to say something about Kim I think she'll just wait till he's alone and then try something

Bonnie is capable of who knows what?
I highly doubt Monique would bother to still Ron away. They have similar interests (eating contests, wrestling) but Monique seemed a little too pleased at the K/Rness
