Guys, I just got a phone call from Grandpa. The deed is done, and the check has been handed off to the CHOC folks. He told me that they were really nice people, they gave him a goody bag, they'll put a write up in their newsletter, and he took lots of photos. My heart is totally warmed by that. He's gonna put up a write-up about it by tomorrow morning. WHOO! How awesome are we?!

I know.
That's like the second exciting thing to happen to me in the last 24 hours, aside from Stephen Colbert deciding to run for President. It rocks.

Yee GADS! FINALLY made it home after a 122 mile round trip. Thank GOODNESS I took Brooks' car... I never would have survived the trip in my Ranchero! I was in traffic a total of about 3 1/3 hours coming and going, and SERIOUSLY need to lie down and collapse just now. Having a hard time sitting here and typing THIS much. Here's a little teaser for you guys... There's going to be more pics and the story tomorrow morning. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz 4 now. RD

The folks who contributed and those who supported this wonderful fun Drive are those who deserve the applause, Joe. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to help THEM make this happen.
TODAY is the big day, and I'm gettin' ready to go.
Hmmm... should I wear my Rufus 'Party Naked' T-shirt?
Nah... kids might get the wrong idea.
Camera's charged, empty, and ready to go.
I think I'll bring Joyce one of my little stuffed Rufus toys for her desk maybe. I hope she likes it!
WHOOOOOOSH! You mean like this one RD?

Nicely done RD. 'Tis a great thing you've done for the fandom. CHOC has gotten their first (and hopefully not the last) RS.Net charity fundage. I can't wait to see what you'll post up tomorrow.
Anyone else feel like dancin'?

WHOOO, do I feel that day yesterday! THAT was the farthest I've driven since 2003! Being disabled as I am, I kind of pushed the envelope on this trip... aw, HECK, I burned the envelope, LOL! But it was SO worth it! It was a breathtakingly beautiful fall day in So. Cal, and just perfect for this trip. I DID spend over 3 hours in traffic, but I was in a comfy car, Brooks' big 'ol Cadillac. I got to CHOC about 20 minutes early thanks to fairly light traffic on the way down. The building is just BEAUTIFUL, all neat and shiny! Here's some pics of the outside... I just HAD to get a pic or two of a most pleasant day, with fluffy clouds and all. ;D a good friend of mine said the cloud kind of in the middle looked like somebody riding a horse. Can you see that? Kinda neat! I parked in Valet parking 'cuz I just couldn't really find the parking lot for visitors. $4.00... OOOOH, I splurged! LOL! I figured that by the time I found parking and set up my scootie chair, I might even be a bit late, too, so I went for it. ;D *Sorting through pics* Ahhh, where to start? Oh, ok, when I first scooted into the lobby of the place, I was stunned by how very CLEAN and SHINY everything was! It looked like a brand-new facility everywhere! I rolled around looking at things and stuff on the wall, and then noticed a security guard was giving me a big eyeball! He must have thought to himself "What is THIS old dude doing taking pictures in here?" So he came up to me and asked just that, LOL. I quickly introduced myself and explained what I was doing there. He was very courteous and helpful, and explained to me that it was NOT allowed to take pics of the hospital inside or out, darnit! He said security is VERY high because of the children, and I wholeheartedly agreed. I had taken 3 pics of stuff inside, and I immediately deleted the pics I had taken in front of him. When Joyce showed up to greet me, we took a bunch of pics with her guidance and permission... of stuff I had already shot, too! LOL! ***** I have to apologize for cutting this off abruptly, but Brook is in the hospital. I don't know what's going on, but I'll get info soon hopefully. Hang tight, guys...
