Thanks for the well-wishes, Joe, and I have to tell you that today was a day that I shall never forget!
Friends, camaraderie, fun, and a mutual love for the show we all know and love in one way or another!
Represent! ;D
Gotta warn you guys that this is gonna be kind of a
mega-post, and there are a LOT of great pics going in here, so you guys be patient and let 'em load, OK? I guar-on-TEE that it will be worth a bit of a wait!
I got kind of a late start because I didn't sleep really well the night before this stuff happened. Guess I was just a bit excited about finally getting to take these pics!
I drove the Ranchero down to Redquills' home, and he gave me a nice tour of the house. This place is absolutely breathtaking! Everything about it reminded me of the Hollywood of old... I felt as if I could channel real movie stars like Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Douglas Fairbanks and all the rest... WOW, a true estate type property from the 1920's that just gave me such a RUSH of the old time glamour era.
The architecture is just magnificent! A prime example of the neighborhood, tucked away on just a bit of a hillside in the 'old money' community called Loz Feliz, a 'hood that I used to walk through a LOT when I was a kid, checking out old houses like this, and marvelling at the architecture and the old cars that were pervasive in the area. AHHH, memories... but I'm rambling, LOL!
I wanted to thank Redquill here for his gracious hospitality in this historic home. *HUGGLE!!!*
I was jazzed seeing it, because it combines several things to me, a couple of them my love for architecture and the history of my home town, Hollywood. You have to know, I'm coming back for more, Red! ;D ;D ;D
Ok, we decided to take Reds' car, because basically, my little Ranchero is really a 2-seater and we had to stop and pick up Tony, aka Lord Victorino on the way to CHOC.
The ride down was filled with narrative about Red's family history mostly, and we exchanged bits and pieces about each other. Good quality time it was, and I do feel a great bond of friendship forming like I haven't felt in many a year! Tony's another, the feeling I get about the guy is nothing but good, good vibes all around.
This was a day spent between the 3 Mouseketeers it seemed like. The conversation was non-stop, and I felt really at ease with these kindred spirits.
Ok, so Red and I picked up Tony, and we all said that we were STARVING hungry (no decent breakfast for any of us this morning) so I suggested Jack in the Box, because they are running an Ultimate Cheeseburger special right now ($1.99) and saving a buck or two is high on my priorities just now... Social Security doesn't quite pay what I was used to making when I was working, LOL!
But Brook and I get by ok... we gots simple tastes these days.
Here's a pic of Redquill and Lord V in a local JITB...
'Quill's the one on the right, with the twirlable moustache, Hee Hee! A handsome duet, NO?
After sustenance was consumed in mass quantities, off we went to CHOC!
I actually forget exactly what time it was when we got there, maybe 3 'o clockish or so, but it proved to be pretty nice what with the sun beating down on the bricks.
So, here's a series of pics for all to see... Ladies and Gentlemen, I give to you the BRICKS AT CHOC!
Enjoy!
Now we decided to try some artsy stuff. I brought along the Towel and a couple of Rufuses to kind of be an Honor Guard, too.
Not much left in the old toy box these days. It's been given away.
The one above is yours truly
and below are Red and Tony in a kind of a pose I thought up on the spur of the moment.
Whoops! A little gust of wind folded over the towel just as I was going to snap Tonys' pose, so it's
REDQUILL to the rescue!
Got it in time this time, LOL!
No "peoples" here, just Naked Mole Rats on guard, LOL!
TOLD ya I took a lot of pics... didn't I? ;D ;D ;D
OK, the next thing we tried to do was to get scratchings, or "imprints" on the bricks transferred to paper so we could send them out as kind of souvenirs to a lot of the folks who donated to this cause... but we tried and tried, and it just didn't work out right. I brought a couple of types of materials, but it just made one godawful mess out of our hands and fingers, Dagnabbit!
Ah, well we gave it our best shot, but would up having to go into the hospital to find a washroom, LOL!
Ever try to scrub graphite and purified charcoal off of your fingers?
YICK!!!
Here's THOSE pics...
After Red gave it a good try, naturally
I had to get down there and try it myself, using a couple of other techniques... all to no avail!
Unfortunately, the battery on my camera decided to croak just then, so there are no pics of me with black charcoal powder up to just about my elbows
Washroom, STAT!
After we were done washing up, we piled back in Reds' big red Saturn, and went over to Tonys' house to sit and watch... what else???
2 eps of KP that I hadn't seen in quite a while. The very beginning of it all, Bueno Nacho and Tick Tick Tick. By this time of the day, I was pretty wiped out, so we bade Tony a fond farewell and hit the road homeward.
We got to Reds' house, and I transferred myself and my treasures to my little truck, and drove home.
What a day!
Well in conclusion here, I have to say my tenure here at RS.NET has been a wild ride, for sure, and you guys out there in cyberspace have been good friends and supporters through a lot of stuff.
I can now close THIS particular chapter of that wild ride, and move on to bigger and better things like...
what are you doing this coming May? There is hopefully another lunch going on, and info is due to break any second now.
DO look for the info on it, ok?
I'd like to see ALL of the local RS members show up to this one!
Anyway, you guys did this brick thing... I just helped a little.
I'd like to see all of you guys unite in the effort to bring KP back for another season... hopefully even more than one season!
The bricks are down, the job is done.
Now it's time to get to work.
