Amazing report! Can't wait to see how the brick arrangement works out in the end, along with the newsletter writeup.
And I'm glad to hear Brook is okay.
Thanks again for organizing such an awesome fan event, RD.

K.P. fans ROCK the CHOC! Take a bow everyone - you too, Grandpa D and thanks for the pics of your trip. It was weird seeing the photos since I've only ever seen the place when visiting my neice. Special thanks to everyone who made this donation (and eventual brick) "possible". Sorry, I didn't start that line intended to end on the pun, it's just (appropriately) worked out that way. ;D

My GOD, there are fires just about EVERYWHERE in So.Cal!
Sorry about the delay in getting this done, but priorities kinda took me down another road.
Everything is ok now, though.
Brick paperwork is getting done today, and I'll post the inscriptions here just a bit later.
Must have wake-up coffee first.

That's so awesome to know!
And totally understandable if it's taking a while. Cali's going nutty.

I'm not quite sure about that, Hi8... I certainly haven't heard of such a thing being done before by ANY fan based message board. It certainly wouldn't surprise me to find out that we, RS.NET, are indeed the first. We have broken ground with many things here over our history.
I sent out the paperwork via snail mail today, and Joyce should get it by next Wednesday. She did say that it should be no problem for all 5 bricks to be put in the path together, so they all kind of tie together. She also did mention that it could be a matter of up to 90 days before the bricks are installed, so that gives me ANOTHER silly idea, HAAAAAA! Maybe that will give us enough time to make a meeting for members at CHOC when I go down to take the pics of the bricks for you all. THAT might be fun. If you live in So. Cal, you might think about us putting that together, EH?
So, I'm done for a while, and I'm going to take a break for a couple of days and rest up.
See ya in a couple of days.

NEWS NEWS NEWS
_______________________________________________________________
After what seemed an intolerably long wait, the BRICKS ARE DOWN, GANG!
WAHOOOOOO!
I e-mailed our contact rep, Ms. Joyce Van Tol yesterday, making an inquiry about when I might be able to come down and take the pics of them for you guys, and I was told that they are being finished up TODAY!
('scuse me, gotta wipe a tear from my cheek, 'cuz I'm SOOOO excited about this, and SO proud of everyone on the board...)
I responded with the fact that I might make the trip next Sunday, because of the traffic situation, but am open to making it a business day if the Hospital might want to do an interview for the CHOC newsletter, or even involve the local media if they choose to do what I think would be a very heartwarming human interest news piece, generating some MORE publicity for RS.NET and maybe the Fight for Five, too.
EXCITING, huh?
I'll keep you guys posted on the developments as they happen!
***HUGGLES FOR EVERYBODY!!!***

Perhaps, or perhaps just let the guy be for now.
But I do want to give a major congratulations to Dave (RD) for all his effort, time, blood, sweat and tear for all this to happen.
I remember the multiple starts for this. It was disappointing and a bit disheartening at first but Dave stuck with it knowing what how important this would be. Thanks man.
Again I hope I am able to get to go to the lunch in May just so I can shake your hand and tell you I am glad to know (OK, I sort of know) a guy like you.
I hope you're proud, because I'm proud of what you did here.

Excellent news, RD!
To me, this will always be the greatest accomplishment of the fandom. Like Joe, I wish I could make it to the VIP lunch primarily to thank you in person for everything you've done.
