I found it creepy. Heck my one cousin (who says she's not a fan but left one day and she HAD KP ON, though it was the DNAmy/Drakken ep blaurgh) said that was one creepy moment (she's like 11, tweebs could date her ) Still I haven't let m younger cousins see it I know they'd freak. Hey the Drakken/DNAmy episode is my favorite episode.

Aww, that's so sad You can't talk your daughter into the truth? That Kim is invincible? I think it was a little extreme...I mean sure, a promo is supposed to "catch your attention", but I found even I was a little shocked at what I was seeing. While by no means the scariest sight I've ever seen, I agree that it might be a little much for kids...especially when Kim is a hero figure to them.

kids need to toughen up. Parents need to grow up. I want a milkshake.
but seriously- I saw Jurassic Park in the theatre when I was five. Granted I was freaking scared when I saw it...but today, I'm quite well adjusted as far as the standards go.
Aside from that freak incident with the chainsaw...but we'll not get into that. jk
Fear thickens the skin and that's just what these whiney teenagers of emo-America today needed in their youth- To Toughen UP!

Okay, I'm not saying her reaction was innappropriate. I'd have probably reacted the same way. Here's what I meant: Kids need to be less sheltered today. A television program, while scary, is not going to harm them, and is hardly going to traumatize anyone. The seen was probably rightfully scary for a three year old, and maybe Disney should have been a bit more selective with the promos, but in the end- no ones gonna get hurt from it. to me it's not that big of a deal.

You know what, Kelli? I agree with you one hundred percent. You were saying what I was thinking. Thank you for having the balls to say it.

I think one thing has been left out of this debate: The target demographic for KP is not 3-year olds. I don't know the exact demographic, but I'd guess it's either 6-11 year old girls or 9-14 year old girls (and from all the talk of the fans' age range being "from 9 to 99" in the push to renew it, I'm leaning more towards the 9-14 year old girls demographic). There's a reason it's rated TV-G.
Now, while that doesn't exactly mean it can't be viewed by younger children, it's a proper marker to parents to be on guard for something those younger children might find unsettling - such as the melting scene. Remember, TV-G is a higher rating than either of the TV-Y7 ratings - which are for shows designed for ages 7 and older.
Every child reacts differently at a different age - I can say with about 70% certainty that I definitely wouldn't have found the melting scene traumatic at 3 years old, though I would've darn sure been frightened by it. But then again, there are some 9 and 10-year olds out there who probably found that melting scene as traumatic as, for example, drakkenfan's daughter did.
The show's staff and the network have done their job in properly rating the show for its material. It's all up to the parents to decide whether their child is ready to handle that material or not.

That's true.
I talked to my 9 year old cousin about how she felt about Kim melting and she was like, "It was just Ron's dream."
She was fine. Her brother didn't care. I purposely had her six year old brother watch the melting promo to see how he would react (I was hoping to scare him and make him cry... yeah, I'm mean), but they were both fine.
I mean, I saw Jurassic Park when I was 5 or 6. I went with my mother, my cousin Kevin (who was about 3) and my cousin Kat (who was probably a teenager), and I was the only one who reacted and it was to the raptors in the kitchen scene. I hid behind a chair in the movie theatre. 14 years later, I'm fine. I am a fan of Jurassic Park. I got over that one little scene and moved on. Hopefully, with time, so will Lily.
