Everyone comes and goes, members sign up, sometimes have a short run, others become veteran long-time members and develop lasting relationships with other members that become lasting friendships. I have news about one such long term member and beloved friend of many, guys. Do grab a tissue, this is not very good news. As I said, members come and go, but today I discovered that someone we all know didn't just lose interest and fade away... he was very suddenly taken from us. Today I got the itch again to find out what happened with our member Commander Argus... Nelson Binch to his friends here. I did wonder last Christmas why the Commander didn't change his avatar once again to that picture of "The Grinch" and change his screen name to "The Binch"... a play on his last name that always made me bust up laughing!!! Grab that tissue now... Today I decided to do some active investigation as to why Nelson hasn't posted since last December 1st. Usually I respect a members' right to privacy and leave 'em alone and not bug them about not posting, but enough was enough! I googled his name, and discovered the horrible news, gang. Commander Argus was hit by a car while riding his bike. According to the news articles I found in the search, he was probably killed instantly. Nelson was an avid bicyclist as a lot of us know, and he even ran his own bike shop at one time. He was also into making models and dolls, and made one of the best looking KP dolls I have ever seen with his own 2 hands! Truly one of the most ardent KP fans I have ever met on the 'net, he was also one of the funniest and warm loving people too! I have missed him since he last posted on the day he left us, and now I shall miss him as long as I shall live. Dave

I googled him a few times since he disappeared in November... I wondered where he'd gone, as he wouldn't simply disappear like that... so sad to see he's gone...

I also had a feeling... but that doesn't take away from how heartbroken I feel. I wasn't as close to him as others probably were, but I've always felt that a forum is kind of like a family. I will miss him. He was a great guy. We will remember you, and my condolences go out to his family.

I feared something like this had happened. It wasn't like him to just leave the forum without notice, or to give up his website about all his hobbies. He was a great man and a great member of this forum. You will be missed, Argus.

Holy crap I guess since I didn't follow him like other people did here I didn't really think anything when he didn't post for a bit, I mean lots of people have left the forum. So this comes as quite a bit of a shock Makes me wonder about other members, luckily I'm still in contact with most of them.

...I had no idea. This is something I've always feared when it comes to members or people I know online that just suddenly go off the radar. To be honest I didn't really notice that Argus hadn't signed on, for a while I couldn't remember who he was, but a quick member search fixed that.
I can't say much about him, I didn't really know him, I'd just see him post now and then but that'd be about it. But despite that, this is terrible news, my thoughts go out to his friends and family.

That's a real shame Especially to die doing something he loved so much. I'll have to read some of his stuff again later. His stories were always pretty excellent.

I just read the news on Ashley's blog. He was a joy to have here.
Where are his stories? I'd like to be able to celebrate him in some form.

Dippy and I postulated a few times what might have happened since he did disappear so suddenly. We'd hoped the worst was just that he'd had computer problems. Do you still have a link to the article for us computer illiterates? That's a real shame Especially to die doing something he loved so much. I dunno, I would prefer to die in my sleep or doing something I loved, although not quite in that way.

He was one of my favourite fanfic writers... I never knew him, but his fanfics are great and though I haven't been a KP fan for long I wondered a bit why he suddenly stopped writing. Never thought this though... My thoughts are to his family

He also posted fan art at deviantart. He had a unique style that I liked very much: commanderargus.deviantart.com/What a tragedy. I really don't know what to say.

Looks like the last conversation I had with him was at Deviant Art, on or slightly after election day, last year. I was going squee! about Obama winning North Carolina and he was grumbling about bond issues passing in his county or state! I guess I should have known something was wrong when Deviant Art changed their profile pages again, and he didn't post a journal complaining about this.
When exactly did he die? It seems so sad that it would take us so long to learn about this.

Aww man...
Thanks RD for letting us know. I would've never thought to look him up, not even for a moment.
I wish I had known him better. He had been a member longer than I have and his presence was always noticeable.
I'll miss him. My deepest sympathies go out to all his family and friends.

Wow. Wow....
The original Kim/Ron Fundamentalist!
R.I.P
I thought something was up when his website wasnt renewed. This saddens and shocks me. All the advice he gave me and reassurances he gave me about things KP related.
I'll miss him. I have missed him. My sympathies go out to all his family and friends as well.
The Avatar I have was made by him.
