Looks like the last conversation I had with him was at Deviant Art, on or slightly after election day, last year. I was going squee! about Obama winning North Carolina and he was grumbling about bond issues passing in his county or state! I guess I should have known something was wrong when Deviant Art changed their profile pages again, and he didn't post a journal complaining about this. When exactly did he die? It seems so sad that it would take us so long to learn about this. Nelson died last December 1st, Carl. Yes, I agree it seems like a long while for us to find out what happened, but as I tried to explain earlier, people do tend to come and go every day. I do tend to respect privacy, and don't want to pester anyone, but I HAVE poked my nose around to see what was up with Argus... it just didn't DAWN on me until today to do a simple Google on his name. When those links to news articles popped up, I was rocked back in my chair like somebody hit me in the chest with an 8 pound sledgehammer! And then the grief and waterworks started! I tried to compose myself, and decided I needed to talk to a friend, so I called Ashley and let her know what I found out. I needed to talk to a friend just then. THANK YOU, Ashley! It's still sinking in as I write this hours later, and the anguish is beginning to turn into a bit of anger at the driver that killed our friend. I want to know what did happen to this person. Was he charged with anything? What is the disposition of the situation? Did the District Attorney file charges? I wonder how we all could find out. Big HUG for you, Carl. And for all of you other guys out there, too. Hope you all don't think I'm being too maudlin for an old guy, but I DO truly love all you guys! Dave

What? O__O omg this is horrible! I can't say I knew him a lot, but I did notice his posting and contributions to the KP community, heck I'm sure he even commented on my dA fanart a couple of times too... and he was SO into Nekos and that... This is really tragic and sad, to suddenly realize a person you once knew is no longer there. His posts, dA pages and fanfics shall remain like a silent, online testimony of his life and activities within the KP community... This is something I've always feared when it comes to members or people I know online that just suddenly go off the radar. Oh man, I totally understand your point of view here, I feel the same. It has happened to me before, that old friends from forums slowly disappear from your online life... they're stil l al ive... but even them drifting appart is sad... now, something like THIS is even worse. I mean, looking at a profile page online and knowing it will NEVER be updated again? That is just a devastating feeling. Argus will be missed. My condolences to his friends and family. =(

You're welcome, Dave.
I have to admit, it truly hurts me to know that it took us four and a half months to find out what happened to him. That's one of the biggest issues about the Internet; your friends may not know what happened to you if something were to happen.

There's no way to know unless someone else who knows the person notifies you... or I guess googling, like this time. But I guess there are pros and cons about the Internet, at least we all should be thankful for the friends we make online and the time we get to spend with them online... even if they might not stay forever.

Wow... that's terrible. I remember him from the old days of the fandom, and I always loved his fanart. He was always so intellegent and well spoken...
Wow.
I didn't know him very well, but it's really sad to see one of the members... just gone. My condolences to his friends and family.

Wow. That's awful. I didn't know him well, but he lived in the same area I do. We never met IRL but we had talked some here. I remember seeing that story on the news about a man being hit riding a bicycle on N. Tryon, but I didn't know his real name, so I had no idea it was him. I know that area of the road where he was hit, and it is a difficult, dangerous stretch of road even in a car. I'll see if I can find out if any charges were filed against the person who hit him. I know some people in the CMPD. How very sad.

I didn't ever get the privilege to meet him, but through his writings and replies to reviews, we all had the fortune to get to know him.
This is truly a sad day.
I was just wondering last week when he was going to get back to his one of his last works, "KP Light at the End."
Mr. Binch, you will be one of the few we all aspire to as great of a writer as you.
RD, thanks for letting us know, and I'm sorry you had to be the one to tell us.
Joe

Oh, God. This is awful. I've read several of his fanfics and had seen/commented on his art in the past. He had a lot of talent and had a lot of promise. I only wished that I was on a whole lot more than I was so I could've got to know him even more.
If anything, he was blessed with many talents. Whether it was from his visual art, his words, his sculptures, or even his work on his bikes, he always found a way to impress his friends and fellow KP fans. His memory will forever live on in that which he has given and shared with us.
My deepest and most sincere condolences to his wife and family. May God keep you and you truly rest in peace, Nelson.

I just heard about it today from Lord Victorino, and my God I'm so sorry and I'm also stunned at the same time. Commander Argus was a great man and I read lots of his stuff, and I found him to be a great writer.
Lots of times I have something to say...but this time I'm speechless, except goodbye Commander Argus you will be missed deeply.

*cries* Nooooooo... How awful I remember him from here and especially his fanart over on Deviant art. It's hard to believe he's suddenly gone. I'm also surprised it took so long for us to find out. God, what a tragic thing to happen to him Thank you RD, for letting us know. Rest in peace, Commander Argus. We'll miss you always.

The Avatar I have was made by him. Seeing things like your avatar and the other works he's created are what is most strange for me. When you see somebody posting something on the internet you might just look over it but I guess I see them differently now I know that there will never be any more

The one thing that strikes me the most is the fact that it didn't even feel like four and a half months since he last posted, it seemed like it was just yesterday when he was on here posting or updating his pictures on DeviantArt. And finding out he passed on months before really comes to me as a shock.
But he will live on in his fan fictions and art.

From what I've been able to find out so far, no charges were filed, which means it was probably ruled an accident. I found out the name of the person driving the car that hit him, and there are no records of arrests or outstanding warrants for that person. Also no updates in the local media. If I find any more info I will post it here.

The Commander was a good friend. Being from the same state we chatted often for awhile there. He took some ideas from me and I took some ideas from him. He even took the story of my heart surgery and put it in as a major theme in one of his. We talked of KP and our great southern state. He was a great author and artist. I knew he hated to close down his bike store but had no choice. The job he had was not the best but he was doing well at it the last I heard. He loved bike riding and that was the last thing he was doing when he died. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had a really good hold on the Kim Ron relationship. So long Commander. We will miss you.

It was a great one. I had it linked from his site. When it dissapeared i knew his website expired. I guess we all probably knew something happend but blocked it out of our heads thinking it couldnt have been true. The Commander was a good friend. I always wondered what would happen if somebody died here and if anybody would even notice...very interesting.
Surprising, as I for one didn't notice his absence. I kind of liked him.

I love that photo of him you chose. I believe it ended up in the Thank You Members video that Ron made back in late 2007. I shed a tear looking at that, Cap. Thanks for sharing.
