Dear Guys:
Since a great many of us have gotten a great deal of fun, discussing the "shippy" parts of Kim Possible, I was wondering what other cartoon programs make us guess like this.
About the only thing I've come across in current animated programs is some guessing on some looks between Ramondo and Kimica on Xiolain Showdown, and some other discussions on Robin/Starfire/Ravin and Beast Boy/Terra on Teen Titans.
Are there any other programs you guys are shipping about? I have to confess on some of these programs the evidence is pretty slight (we're just talking glances and sometimes playful animosity), but maybe that's the appeal to all these programs and keeps us coming back.
Sincerely,
JThree carolyn@dia.net

Well, I'm a big fan of Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers, and that show was famous for The Great Triangle (should Gadget get with Chip, or Dale, or anyone at all?) Unfortunately, said love triangle was deliberately left open on the show, with the overall evidence for either C+G or D+G being deliberate at best. That being said, one of my favorite scenes on the show was in the episode "Parental Discretion Retired" when Chip and Gadget flirted. Needless to say, I'm a Chip+Gadget fan.

I'm not a regular Teen Titans viewer, but sometimes my son watches this while cooking pizza, so I happened to catch the episode where Robin is forced to take a villain's spoiled but beautiful daughter to a prom. Nothing subtle about the way Starfire jeals! When they ship on that show, it's sledgehammer obvious. But then most of the time there's no sign of romance at all, between anybody. Seems kinda weird to me...

The crush Starfire has on Robin is played mostly for laughs I think, I don't watch it reguarly but I saw that same espisode as you.
I noticed the whole Xaolin Showdown K/R shippyness, wait, that's confusing. But you know what I mean.

Yeah Teen Titans is just bursting at the seams for Robin and Starfire to hook up. What is it with toon romance and red heads?

I got myself a real-life redhead, and conclude that the toon authors have got it right.

OK, I know that (all) *you* hate American Dragon, but in that TvShow (expect for Rose & Jake) there's a couple (like Kim & Ron):
Trixie & Spud

Ya know, I think the classic shippy cartoon was Charlie Brown (or "Peanuts", or you wanna be oldschool). One of the main themes of the comic strip and the cartoons was unrequited love. You had Lucy in love with Schroeder, who couldn't stand her, and Sally in love with Linus, who also couldn't stand her.
And, of course, you had the crazy Charlie Brown Love Triangle, with Charlie Brown chasing after the Little Red Haired Girl, Peppermint Patty chasing after Charlie Brown, Marcie just quietly crushing on him, and Peggy Jean (Chuck's summer camp sweetheart) thrown into the mix just for fun.
Personally, I always thought Charlie Brown should've stopped chasing after Little Red and given Peppermint Patty a chance. They were both leaders of their respective gangs, and (IMHO) had the most shippiness together: they went out on a date in Patty's first animated appearance, Patty's always trying to get Chuck to talk about love, and in one of the Valentine episodes, Charlie tried calling Little Red's phone number and ended up calling Patty instead (too bad he, in typical fashion, totally bungles the ensuing conversation). Plus, in a weird way Patty's enthusiasm and occasional over-bossiness actually seems to bring out Charlie's best qualities and buried potential (at least in the animated movies and shows). Then again, they've had their fights (like the time they tried to share a desk. Ouch) but every relationship has its ups and downs.

I'm a fan of an anime called Case Closed (original title: Detective Conan) that shows up occassionally late night on Cartoon Network. There's an interesting 'ship at the center of the storyline: Jimmy Kudo (aka Sinchi Kudo) is a teen prodigy, the smartest 17 year old detective in Japan. His best friend is Rachel Moore (Ran Mori), karate expert with whom he's been close since they were little kids. Jimmy was close to telling Rachel his true feelings when a strange potion reduced his body to that of a six year old. In order to protect Rachel from the men who poisoned him, Jimmy took the identity of orphan Conan Edogawa and moved in with Rachel and her private eye father Richard Moore.
So Conan can't tell Rachel his feelings while stuck in a child's body. While only the first two seasons of the series have been shown in the US (along with a few later eps released on DVD), it's a popular show in Japan and nearly ten seasons old there. I understand the situation gets more complicated in the later seasons with the addition of a girl who's also shrunk from teenager to little kid. Anyway, it's a good show with some challenging mysteries, so I can recommend it if you come across an episode.

Oh wow, of all the people I've really wanted to join! You know, Gnuhopper, of course, I consider your posts awesome.
But I digress... back to Charlie Brown. I'm a bit more of a Charles/Marcie shipper myself. When Charlie Brown was in the hospital, Marcie and Peppermint Patty were on a bench, talking about him, and Marcie kept intensifying her opinion about Charles-- I think he's real neat, I want to go with him to the senior prom, in fact if he asked me, I'd even marry him-- at which point Patty thinks her friend has lost her mind. So, gotta be Marcie. The secret to shipping Charlie Brown, by the way, is you can't call him Charlie Brown. If he's Chuck or Charles, he loses some of his "loser" stigma.
Interesting parallel. In "Emotion Sickness," when Ron wants to be platonic with a moodulated Kim, he calls her "KP." When the possibility of romance is a bit more open, she's Kim. Kimbo or Kimela usually appear when Ron thinks he knows better than Kim about something (which sometimes he does.)
