I have the first 15 pages done already. Unfortunately, the more I write, the more ideas come to me, and I'm looking at about 80 pages right now. I was hoping to have it done before I went down to the States this weekend for my annual hockey trip (Columbus Blue Jackets vs Colorado Avalanche in Columbus on Friday, New York Rangers visiting Pittsburg on Saturday), but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I should be done in a couple weeks though, the story is flowing well.

The long awaited 11th chapter of The Darkness Within has been completed and posted. I hope everyone enjoys (though G-Go might want to strangle me after the mess I left him with ;D ) www.fanfiction.net/s/2679609/11/

G-Go might want to strangle me after the mess I left him with ;D Maybe not... By separating Ron out from the rest of his team to fight Monte, you've set him up as a "wild card" of sorts. This opens up the door to all kinds of possibilities, depending on which way the cards fall. If the Ronster can manage to pull off a victory here, then he'll be left alone on the outside to plot his own attack strategy, and I strongly suspect that Bortel is too distracted with his own situation right now to be watching his blind-side in that way.

I loved the part where TI kept saying "When did this happen"

I know, that was just fun, leaving them in the dark.
And I really don't think the kiss was as bad as everyone feared it would be. I thought it worked well, and helped set up the only real humour in the chapter other than the TI bit, and that was just mild to begin with.

A nice set up for the big finale. Lots of emotion, action, and double crosses.
I could have done without the kiss, though. Talk about nails on a chalkboard. Yuck.

Actually, for what it was, and what it really wasn't was, I liked that scene.

I've been wondering about this story for a while; any chance that its going to be updated anytime soon? (It is about one chapter short of being complete after all...)

The problem is - I haven't heard from G-Go (it's his turn) in a loooooooong time.

Last word I had heard from G-Go last month was that he was going through a great deal of personal turmoil, but he still wanted to finish off the last chapter. I was going to get in touch with him this weekend to find out how he's doing, and how the final chapter is progressing.

Can you tell I haven't been on here in a while? G-Go wrote me a few weeks ago, saying he didn't have time or opportunity to write the finale, and passed it on to me. Meaning, Z, that while I don't know if he wanted to strangle you for the situation you left KP and Co. in, I know I do. I mean, this is 'deadly ground' type stuff, man. So yeah. It's in work. Never fear.

I know I am still waiting for an update on this story. I sincerely hope the first attempt to take seriously the consequences of what Kim and Ron have done since the beginning of this story has not been abandoned.

I know I am still waiting for an update on this story. I sincerely hope the first attempt to take seriously the consequences of what Kim and Ron have done since the beginning of this story has not been abandoned. Yeah I'm sort of wondering about that myself. The easiest solution I can see to K/R's shot reputations and criminal actions at this point would be if the collective memories of everyone on earth is modified by Bortel's technology which is as of the last chapter in place and active. But erasing the actual consequences for K/R would feel like a very big cheat; sure she and Ron would still have the psychological and emotional issues to deal with but erasing the consequences would be stretching things way too much. After everything thats happened here it wouldn't feel right for things to go back to the way it was before. On the other hand even if the criminal charges can get quietly dropped (its not a stretch to see GJ quietly fix the legal issues and issue a press release/conference letting the public know that K/R were involved in a "secret mission" instead of letting everyone think they are criminals) Kim's reputation is still largely ruined. (Ron is usually an afterthought; I doubt they got his name right when it was announced that Team Possible were wanted by law enforcement so the public might not be connecting him with whoever they think is actually Kim Possible's partner.) Without some Deux es Machina to clean everything up the only real options for Kim at the end of this story are either retirement from mission work or going underground. No government is going to trust her, her previous system of travel is destroyed because it was based on trust which is now destroyed, not to mention all the issues that Wade is going to have now. Even if she wants to continue to save the world, she's not likely to get the chance to do so without throwing away the option of having a semi-normal life. She'd have to end up living like a ninja to do so. (And this is without really addressing all the guilt and issues she's going to feel when all this is over; even if her conversation with Ron in the lair shower a chapter or two back had her lay out the idea of them having nothing left in life but mission work, is she really going to want to do that after everything that happened? She nearly lost everything and everyone she cares about. Does she really want to put everything on the line again and again and again even if Ron encourages her not to give up? She's going to have enough trouble recovering something of her life without the trouble of missions and villains when all is said and done.) On the other hand once her legal issues are resolved she could easily re-enroll in a college and head off in a new direction. She'd be isolated and distrusted but she'd have Ron and their families to back her up so it wouldn't be the end of the world. I could see her easily transferring to Upperton University (which she probably should have done in the beginning of the story since it would have easily solved the distance issue that she and Ron had with her being where she was) and channel her desire to help people into something like medicine or psychology. (Law enforcement or being a Lawyer would be out with the reputation she has at this point in the story.) Besides this story reads like a little bit like a swan song for the career of Kim Possible Teen Hero - all the villains are involved, the situation is dire, and the hero managed to recover to save the day at the last minute (well, hopefully). And since I'd rather not see her sacrifice her life (or for Ron to do that since at this point that would pretty much completely crush Kim) to save the day then the odds are that she should finish the mission, save the world, and then in whatever shape she can - ride off into the sunset. It wouldn't be bad to see the story end on a happy note like a wedding; that would emphasis recovery of some sort and would emphasize the idea of a new beginning. Besides after all this you've got to wonder what K/R would really be waiting for.
