Kim's Future Career

Would she be able to handle a career in anything? I think she likes her freedom, working for free, "dabbling."

She will so wind up dropping out of college and working at Bueno Nacho. ;D

actually, there's not a lot of people who can say that they knew what they wanted to do at that age... I think Loter said that this was the Junior Prom, so college is barely on the radar and the KP crew are more worried about making it through school and the Regionals, not necessarily choosing a career.

I predict she shall choose a career that is most... unpredictable. Heck, I can see her as a nurse.

Her position as a world hero and he life she has gives us a few clues:

She likes to be in charge.
She is very independent.
She likes to help people. Hum......
She is a perfectionist.
She travels around the world and has experience in dealing with people.

The areas best suited for her are:

Political Science. But this is agaisnt some major aspects of ther personality
International Studies. Unfortunately she never showed much tolerance and patience in almost everything.
Psychology. He knows how to deal and interact with people.

But there is a prob, she would have to leave her hero life, in order to be able to acomplish any of this.

The question is this: does studying something necessarially imply that one will seek a career in that field? I don't know what your ultimate plan is, Z (and don't tell me, I wish to be surprised!) but my thinking on the subject is that she would study a discipline that would be useful in hero work.

To that end, I'd recommend International Relations/Diplomacy, as I can see knowledge of nations, their goals and interactions and customs, as something that would come in handy for a newly-made adult hero.

At least, that's what I'm gonna do. Your milleage may vary. ;D

I honestly see Kim as being largely undecided about what she'd want to major in for at least the first year of college. I imagine that she'd sample a bunch of classes including political science, history, and philosophy.

I'm torn on what she'd actually settle on though - it would really depend on what further experiences she'd have up to that point. I could see her settling on a career in medicine (and thus become a pre-med/science major) but in pediatrics or physical therapy rather than in brain surgery. (I'd lean more towards pediatrics than physical therapy.) I could also see her testing out the idea of becoming a teacher by taking some education classes. But I can't really see Kim as a teacher; if she was to teach the way she coached soccer, she'd be out of a job in no time.

What I really don't see her doing is ending up with Global Justice or in a law enforcement career; GJ seems to be too restricting (to be honest I don't see her going into that without Ron and I don't see him wanting a career in law enforcement/Global Justice) and she doesn't strike me as someone who'd be comfortable with having to carry and potentially use firearms on another person so I'd rule out law enforcement.

So I'd probably put Kim into a Science/Medicine Major by her Sophmore year with a minor in either Political Science, Philosophy or Education.


The question of what major she'd take also ties into the idea of if she's planning to make a career out of her missions/adventures. I think that while she'd always look for a way to help people the odds are good that by her mid-20s she wouldn't be actively freakfighting anymore. So she'd probably channel her desire to help into something more standard. I don't think she'd bother with politics given her experience running for office in high school and I just don't see GJ/law enforcement as something she'd want to spend her life on. I think that she'd probably lean more towards medicine or education as an outlet.


As for your specific fanfiction, given that you just brought Kim out of a coma I could see her undecided for a while but really being influenced by the experience. That could lean her towards an interest in medicine generally and perhaps physical therapy specifically. However physical therapy could be too claustraphobic for her given her experience and so she could always take an interest in another type of medicine like pediatrics. I really can see her wanting to spend her career-life helping little kids. I could even see her being influenced in the direction if Ron told her about his encounter with the little girl from "Consequences". It might give her some perspective.

Yes but just remember Kim would make an excellent programmer. After all we would all like seeing her try to explain to Ron what a recursive function is. Ah the good times that would ensue.

I'd say a teacher...Kim just has the look and personality of one in my opinion. And I can see her great with kids (elementary I could see her doing). Heck I could wish I could de-age myself just to be in her class.
