What names do you use for Kim's Mom and Ron's parents, since they have no canon names?
In my series:
MrsDrP - Anne
Mr Stoppable - Gene (Eugene)
Mrs Stoppable - Jean
I've never considered maiden/middle names

I never really cared for the Stoppable's names, because I don't have them appear within my fics at all... mainly because I don't like them. However, I have given Mrs. Dr. P a name. I gave the name of Lauren, because I like that name, and it's been with me since the beginning of me writing stories in general (I can trace using that name for a character all the way to November 2000). Sometimes I refer to her as 'L' in my fics.  |

I don't much care for them either, mainly because the first time I ever saw them was in ASiT. Those very first lines where they explained the moving sign to Ron really colored my perception of them.
In some of my recent chapters, Ron's mother is starting to come off in a very bad light, though she means well.

I think the main reason I hate his parents is because Elliott Gould, who does Mr. Stoppable, was once married to Barbra Streisand, and I think she's incredibly evil. And being that Elliott was married to her, he is guilty by association.

I haven't come up with middle names for them either, and probably never will (unless I decide to have Gerald get in trouble, the whole middle name thing applies to husbands too). I don't even think I've used Nancy's name in my series yet though.

Mrs. P - Ann. I like the notion She gives her name for Kim's middle name.  Mr. Stoppable - Donald. Close to Ron's name. Mrs. Stoppable - Hanna. Just a name I chosen out of the blue. No particular reason why I chose it. I don't bother to give middle names. They're not necessary for my fanfics. The only characters I would ever mention middle names are the ones that were mentioned their middle names on the show, namely Kim and her father. As for the Stoppables, I'm not going to demonize them in my fics. They never were shown to be bad in the show, so I'm not going to do that to them. If others see them as 'bad', well, that's them. I'm not following that path. |

I don't think the Stoppables were ever meant to be "evil", but they were meant to be depicted as incompetent as are a LOT of cartoon parents...
I mean, look at the horror that is the Proud Family - or Danny Phantom and the Fairly OddParents. Parents in these shows are just too stupid from the start. They're totally disconnected from their kids, over react or don't react at all to dangerous situations and are constantly leaving the kids in danger.
the Stoppables are just another version of the generic stupid parents - but the Possibles actually stand out as competent parents who actually CARE about their kids... which, I must admit, is part of what appeals to me about KP. It's easy to write dumb adults - it's hard to write smart mature adults for a kid's show and make it work.

I named Kim's mother "Holly". I only used Ron's parents once and never bothered to name them.

the Stoppables are just another version of the generic stupid parents Okay, you got me confused here, for I haven't seen anything the Stoppables have done, in the three episodes they were in, to show they are stupid on the level as 'The Proud Family' father. well, maybe not THAT stupid - but they're oblivious to the emotional trauma they inflicted on Ron in ASiT by selling the house out literally from under his feet and avoiding telling him until the very last minute... and they're out of the picture for the most part, which is astonishing considering their son managed to make and blow millions of dollars without them knowing or caring. there's a bit of redemption in "Ron The Man" where Pa Stoppable tries to do the "talk" and convince Ron that he's a Man without the Rabbi's signature, but that scene is wasted when Ron runs upstairs and offers Rufus for "download". Maybe not as stupid as the Proud papa (shudders) but they're close, imo. |

Not so much as stupid as incompetent. In my fics they love Ron but they've ceded a lot of his upbringing to Kim and her parents. I recently wrote a scene where, through some misunderstandings and unwitting insensitivity Mrs. Stoppable said some things to Ron that had some of my readers ready to slap her around a bit.

Mrs. Dr. P - Anne. Since Jim and Tim are named after their father, I thought it made sense that one of Kim's names came from her mother.
Mrs. Stoppable - Barbara. I've only had in in one series so far. I read another fic in which this was her name and stole it.
Mr. Stoppable - Donnald. Same this with Mrs. Stoppable.

Which is why I just can't see the hatred toward the Stoppables. It makes me wonder if some readers are painting them on par with Josh in fanfics. Josh showed nothing in the show to warrent hatred yet he's treated like vermin. The same with the Stoppables now, from the way I see it. Mention one little misunderstanding in a fic and suddenly you have readers want the parents' heads. Oh, please! I never saw the same hatred toward Mr. Possible in fics where he try to be the overprotective father.  And for everyone's info, have people forgotten "Adventures in Rufus Sitting" where the Stoppables take their son on vacation with them? I don't see that as incompent or stupid on the Stoppables' part. |

To be fair, Jar Jar is an afront to all that is decent in the universe, the stupidest character I have ever seen, and I don't know how some people weren't outright offended by him.
And I don't think I'll ever understand the animosity towards some characters. I mean, I throw Josh in, a decent, nice guy, and EVERYONE hated him pretty much. It took 3 chapters before even some people would grudgingly admit that he wasn't a bad guy, but they still didn't like him. I did everything I could to get people to like him.
As for Ron's folks, I just see them as being busy with work all the time. Not mean, or abusive, but just not really prepared to deal with a kid maybe. The scene in ASiT illistrated that, how they hid it from him until the last possible moment, not sure how to talk to him about the move. But they are decent parents, you can see it in Ron the Man, and other episodes.

I think the reason that fans hate Josh is because he is one of the main obstacles to Kim and Ron getting together.
As for the parents, they're decent, but I think the fans are mad at them for the whole thing with ASIT. I mean, it's Ron, unless you outright say it to him, he's not gonna know.
