KP/Power Rangers fusion (Chap. 4 teaser up!)

I've been staying up all night and watching Toon Disney a lot lately from about 1am - 3am, catching the replays of Power Rangers: Dino Thunder at 2 and 2:30am. So...now I've got this idea for a new KP fic...It would be a KP/Power Rangers fusion, wherein Team Possible becomes the Power Rangers: Animal Lightning team. It'd be Team Possible as described in the S4 press release (ie, Wade is out of the house, Monique joins the team) set in an AU meld of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers: Dino Thunder worlds. As the identities of Team Impossible are publicly known, they'd probably be like the S.P.D. Rangers in that their identities are not a secret to the general public.

Drakken would be the main villain, obviously - kind of a meld between Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, and Messegog, with Lil' Diablo robots standing in for the Putty Patrol...

Shego would be the Goldar of the villains, and Monkey Fist and Duff Killigan would take the place of Baboo and Squatt as the comedy relief villains...

On the side of good, Josh Mankey and Brick Flagg would be the Bulk and Skull of the story, with possibly Tara and Bonnie mirroring them as a female comic relief duo. Though, I'm heavily leaning towards making Bonnie and Tara rangers, too, as it would open up some interesting teamwork-related storylines.

The Power Rangers: Animal Lightning lineup would be:

-Kim: Red Ranger; Lioness Power

-Ron: Yellow Ranger; Mystical Monkey Power

-Wade: Blue Ranger; Dolphin Power

-Monique: Green Ranger; Chameleon Power

-Rufus: Pink Ranger; Mystical Monkey Wolverine Power
(and no, he would not grow to human size - he'd be a tiny naked mole rat in a tiny pink ranger costume)

-Bonnie (if I decide to make her a Ranger): Black Ranger; Swan Power

-Tara (if I decide to make her a Ranger): White Ranger; Pony Power

The Animal Lightning morphing call would be "Power Rangers: Animal Lightning! Strike!"

This would NOT be a Kigo fic, though I'll admit I've had a scene with a 30 foot tall Shego teasing Kim ("Wanna play with me now, Kimmie? Twice the size equals twice the fun!") running around in my head for a while...

I'm on the fence about this, so I'd like some opinions on this idea. If I do decide to do it, it'd probably take me a while to get started on it, as I am currently more concerned with finishing my Winter Term classes, and I'd also need to outline a general plot arc so I don't end up winging the story. I was a huge Power Rangers freak as a kid when the first series came out, and I've found Dino Thunder to be extremely entertaining as well (Tommy Oliver rocks no matter what), so I'm leaning heavily towards doing this. I still haven't decided if I should have Zordon and Alpha as the Ranger's leaders, or go with the fic incorporating the events of the Countdown to Destruction event of In Space into its story. I'd also like time to figure out a power each character would have unmorphed (like the sonic scream of Kira's and the superspeed Conner has in Dino Thunder.)

So, whaddya you guys think?

Sounds like a laugh riot!

Diablo toys as thugs, Shego still the top lackey (That taunt sounds fine. I'd use it even in a non-Kigo story), All the Rangers sound good (especially the Pink).

I can see a Team Go joke in there somewhere. I thought the different colors of the Team were an intentional parody of MMPR (Notice that Green Tommy was Evil? Who else is green and Evil?)

go for it but i prefer Ron as the black ranger its more of a boy color or maybe white, blue nah doesn't look good on Ron but hey its your story go with your own wave i'm just here making suggestions:)

I would read it if it was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and KP, but not if was any of the PR series past 1999.

I would love to see Rita Repulsa in a KP fic. I loved her in the MMPR.

It'll be a fusion, not a crossover, so it won't take place within any PR series.

I think I'll do this, with Bonnie and Tara as Rangers - but I won't start it just yet. Finals Week is upon me now...

However, I have decided on a few more things:

1) Bonnie's power will be Swan Power. It suits her better than Crow Power: The whole ballet thing, plus swans are generally social animals, but yet some are fiercely territorial - as Bonnie is about her reputation - and are known for some nasty attacks on people, as Bonnie is sometimes quite nasty towards Kim.

2) Sensei and Yori will be the Zordon and Alpha of this fusion. They fit perfectly as the mentor and the mentor's assistant figures, for obvious reasons.

3) It'll be Frederick who turns on the Space TV (instead of the Space Dumpster as in MMPR...) on the moon and releases Drakken - though I might have Mr. Possible up there on the moon with Frederick, working off the idea from Attack of the Killer Bebes that it was partially his snubbing of Drakken that made Drakken finally snap and become evil...

Anyone have some good ideas of what should be the unmorphed power for everyone? So far, all I've got is Kim with claws and enhanced senses, Monique with camoflauge, and Wade with echolocation ability/psionic beam (depending on the situation), and Ron and Rufus with simply their Mystical Monkey Powers enhanced by their Ranger Powers.

An interesting concept.

Classic Cowboy's done a crossover, but this is the first I've heard of a fusion.

I would echo the earlier comment about altering Ron's color. Yellow is traditionally one of the female colors. Unless you were figuring on a Goku sorta thing with a 'golden' monkey.

And for a change from any of the series it looks like your team's going to be top heavy on the girls... um, no pun intended. ^_^;

And some good powers... didn't that only show up in Dino Thunder? Anyways,

teleportation,
healing power (but unable to heal self),
florapathy (manipulation of plants),
flight,
elemental powers (fire, wind, water),
illusion,
clairvoyance,
telepathy,
superstrength
and telekenesis

Some of those powers I'm going to use myself in one of my ongoing fics. ^_^
Some of the power somewhat passive, not well suited for combat, but others like the superstrength, elementals and teleportation are fairly active combat powers.

The Ninja Storm Rangers had powers when they were unmorphed.

And there's a male yellow ranger in Ninja Storm and Mystic Force.

I'm sticking with Ron being the Yellow Ranger, because his hair's blonde, bananas are yellow, and yellow is just more traditionally associated with monkeys in general.

I would like to suggest one thing though. Do with it what you will.
How about making Bonnie and Tara's Zords combinable into a sort of Pegasus form?

Bonnie & Tara should not be part of the team. They should be the comic relief duo who are always trying to show up the Rangers (they don't know the Rangers are Kim, Ron, etc.).
Bonnie & Tara could set up their own Power Ranger team and hire 'the best Power Ranger ever - Hego!' to head it (Hego would be played by Tommy). But their team doesn't do so well. More comedy.
So then Hego becomes the mysterious 6th Ranger addition to the team of Kim, Ron, Wade, Monique & Rufus.

@sqevans - Josh Mankey and Brick Flagg will fill the comedic duo role. As I was young when MMPR began, Bulk and Skull are much more of an influence to me than the recent female comedic roles, and I think Brick and Josh are better to fill that role than Bonnie and Tara. And I've already stated that Kim and Co. will have their identities known to the general public a la Power Rangers SPD, because it seems pointless to hide them if Team Possible is already known to the public.

Team Go's gonna be the team of heroes that originally trapped Drakken in the Space TV 10,000 years ago, so I can't use them in the present...I'm still up in the air as to whether Tommy should appear or not. Most likely not. I'd like to stick with the regular KP cast. I'll probably have Bonnie go through a Green Ranger/White Dino Thunder Ranger-style storyline before becoming a Ranger, though. It seems fitting for her. That would probably be where Tara comes in, as well - she helps them save Bonnie from turning fully evil, Sensei is impressed, and she ends up becoming the White Animal Lightning Ranger.

And I'm switching up the Baboo and Squat stand-ins. Now it'll be Monkey Fist and DNAmy as the comedic relief villain duo. And I may add Barkin as an Elsa/Zeltrax-style combo role, where he's Barkin at school, but when he's in Drakken's lair, he's Motor Ed, and 3rd in command behind Shego. I've decided it'd be funnier if Duff Killigan was a monster Drakken creates at some point to fight the Rangers. The jokes about kilts I can think of stemming from the sight of a 30-foot tall Killigan are way too goldmine, there's no way I canpass them up...

And I've extended the morphing call. Now, it's:

Pre-morph: "Power Rangers: Animal Lightning! Strike!"
Post-morph: "Team Possible, ready for action! Hyah!"

“Kim, why do we have to learn martial arts? What does any of this have to do with cheerleading?” Bonnie whined as she blocked a kick from Hope.

Kim sighed. “Bonnie, you're a ballet person. You know how all that works, and what it helps build. Just think of martial arts as...as a more violent version of that.”

“Hmm - well, when you put it that way...” Bonnie grinned.

“Besides, you're doing really well, Bonnie. Why are you complaining?”

Bonnie had no answer.

Kim moved to Monique and Wade - who weren't on the squad, but were participating because they part of Team Possible and needed the training - and in the case of Wade, the exercise. 12 years staying in one room would make anybody seriously out of shape, though somehow Wade was more in shape than Kim had thought he was. In any case, they were both learning fast, with Monique learning just a bit faster. As Kim came over, Monique had her back turned to Wade, but caught his fist out of the corner of her eye, and threw him over her shoulder onto the mat.

“Keep it up, Wade - you're almost on par with her,” Kim encouraged.

She moved on. “How's it coming, Tara?”

“Huh? WHOAH!” Tara fell flat on her butt as she looked up and Crystal's low roundhouse kick swept her feet out from under her. She looked up at Kim as Crystal helped her up.

Kim shook her head. “Still a bit of work, it looks like.”

“I can do this, Kim! I know I can!” Tara protested.

“Tara, chill - I know. You're right - you can do this. You definitely have the drive. Sometimes it takes a bit more work for people to get up to the same level as everybody else. That's alright. Just keep practicing.”

“Thanks, Kim!” Tara beamed.

“Yeah, Tara - someday you might match Ron!” Bonnie snorted.

“Hey!” Ron, sparring with Marcella, protested. “I happen to be very good at this...at various intervals of time.”

“Hmm...Well, Bonnie, since you seem to feel you're so ready, why don't we switch your sparring partner?” asked Kim.

“Ugh - about time...”

“Let's have you face...Rufus!”

"Alright!" Rufus exclaimed as he hopped out of Ron's pocket and took his stance opposite Bonnie.

Bonnie's face dropped. “...You want me to fight the naked mole rat?”

“Yep.” Kim's face stayed stern.

"Oh, this is going to be easAY!” cried Bonnie as Rufus grabbed her leg, swept her foot out from under her, and caused her to fall flat on her butt, too. Everyone laughed. Bonnie simply crossed her arms and grumbled as Rufus scurried at top her head and shook his hands in celebration of his swift victory.

“Good job, Frederick.”

“Thank you,” came the robotic voice in return as the highly intelligent monkey in the space suit looked at Mr. Possible.

“Now let's get these new moon rock samples back to the Space Center.”

“Roger.” Frederick typed his reply on the keypad of his spacesuit.

The two turned back to their lunar craft.

After getting the samples in the storage hold, Mr. Possible turned to his coworker. “Let's check the engines one more time, Frederick.”

“Affirmative.”

Walking around to the back of the craft, the two inspected the engines. “Well, everything looks fine - wait, what's that?” A glint in his visor caught Mr. Possible's eye. It was coming from a crater not far away - at least, not far away when gravity on the moon was less than gravity on Earth. Two hops, and the team was standing right next to the object. “It looks like a...TV?” Getting closer, he saw he was right - somehow, a TV was in a crater on the moon. Adding to that, there was a remote sitting right next to it.

“Well, why don't we see what's on?” asked Frederick, picking up the remote.

“Wait, Frederick! We don't know what-”

But it was too late. Frederick had pressed the ON button.

A blast of blue light shot out of the TV, sending the astronauts backwards, landing right next to the ladder of their ship.

When the blinding light faded, standing in the crater was a group of alien beings. They all looked human, save for some weird differences. The being who resembled a male had blue skin, the being who looked remarkably like a human female had pale green skin, and the other creature looked like a futuristic space knight with a mullet under his helmet. The last two would've been human - had not one had what appeared to be monkey hands and feet, and the other a gorilla's body attached to their head.

The blue-skinned creature stretched their body. “Ah! Finally, I'm free of that cursed device! Now if I could only find a chiropractor who could correct 10,000 years of being trapped under Mr. Sit-Down!”

“Hey, look - some humans! Let's have some fun!” the green-skinned being pointed. She grinned and suddenly fired a few blasts of green energy at the astronauts.

“Woah! Let's get out of here, Frederick!” cried Mr. Possible, the two of them scurrying onto the ship as fast as they could as the blasts exploded near their feet.

“Hey! Get back here!” yelled the being, aiming at the ship's engines as it blasted off.

“Wait, Shego!” the blue-skinned being grabbed her arm. “Let them go. They're the ones who set us free. We should at least give them one reprieve for that.”

“Fine! Whatever...”

“Augh! Get away from me! 10,000 years together was enough!”

“Oh, I'm never going to leave you, Montykins! C'mere!”

“Ahhh!”

“QUIET, BOTH OF YOU!” ordered the blue-skinned being, turning towards the two creatures with the seemingly primate body parts, the one with the Gorilla body chasing the other one. “Or I'll have Ed deal with you!” He nodded towards the creature resembling a Space Knight.

Instantly, the chase stopped. “Yes, Lord Dr. Drakken!” Wit that the two creatures became silent.

“That's better...” Drakken growled.

“So, like - what are we gonna do today, my Lord? Seriously - I mean, like, now that we're free and all?” asked the 'Space Knight.'

“The same thing we almost succeeded in doing before getting tricked into that accursed trap 10,000 years ago, Ed!” Drakken turned back to gaze over the horizon of the moon - his eyes instantly falling on the huge planet right in front of him. “It's time to conquer Earth! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

Shego sneered as Drakken's maniacal laugh continued, her hands igniting in green flame as she looked towards the planet. “Works for me!”

In the spaceship that was screaming back towards Earth, Frederick looked at Dr. Possible. “I have a bad feeling about this.”

“I am aware, Yori. It is now up to the coins to fall into their chosen hands.”

“Hai.”

I kinda see Big Mike and the gang from detention hall as the Bulk & Skull types.
And Hego could be added easily - he was trapped 10,000 years ago just as the villains were, but Shego revives him and convinces him the Power Rangers are evil.

I don't see why you have to copy characters and storylines from Power Rangers, though. I thought about this at work, and you could do the Kim Possible show using Power Rangers motifs. Still 'the girl who can do anything', but has problems with real life. It would be more of a true fusion, anyway.

About all these crossover/fusion/'new character' stories I see at fanfiction.net: Is it really that hard to come up with original stories for Kim?

If you're going to do something like this, put your own spin on it, make it original. Don't think you have to follow a formula.
The Power Rangers especially need a creative spark, as every year it's the same. Only the names change.
The puttys, the megazords, etc. etc., are always the same.
And the parents are never anywhere around.

To inject some drama, I'd give everyone except Kim a morpher (she'd have to earn hers, as the 6th Ranger). As the 'girl who can do anything', she wouldn't really need one. She'd want one, though, to fit in on the team and to effectively lead it. So Wade manages to clone the power morpher tech and gives her a new morpher, but it can only 'borrow' the others' morphing powers if any of them are incapacitated or away, and thus unable to use their morphers. Kim asking Bonnie, etc. to 'borrow' her morphing powers adds more drama.
Then instead of Sensei, the parents can butt in and meddle with the kids lives.

“…and he says, “Hey! That’s a die!” finished Wade as he walked out of the gym. Monique couldn’t help but laugh. The joke was definitely bad – but Wade’s sincerity about it being funny kind of made it so.

“KP? What’s up?” asked Ron as he and Kim walked out of the gym behind their Team Possible teammates. The moment Bonnie and Tara left the gym, he’d noticed that her mood changed slightly.

“It’s nothing, Ron…I’m just – a little worried about Dad. I know he’s always wanted to actually go up into space, but now that he got his wish, I – I can’t help but be concerned about him up there.”

“KP, c’mon. Why wouldn’t you be worried about him? He’s your father. But you don’t have to be worried about him that much. That’s definitely not like the KP I know. C’mon – Bueno Nacho on me.”

“Oh, Ron – you’re so sweet.” With that, Kim pecked a kiss on her boyfriend’s cheek.

Suddenly, the Kimmunicator – which Wade was carrying - beeped. “Cancel that for now, you two.”

Kim and Ron were standing beside him in a second. “What’s the sitch?”

“Hmm…appears to be just an email. It’s from that Park Ranger who called us about that baby bird you rescued a few years back. She’s been working with the zoo in her city on behalf of the Audubon Society – you know, helping rehabilitate birds for re-introduction into the wild and all that. Anyway, it appears someone stole 4 priceless totems and 5 priceless coins from the city’s History Museum, and somehow escaped into the zoo, where he dumped their loot in random places there. She, the police, and the zoo’s entire staff have combed every inch of the area, but it seems the thief hid everything pretty well.”

“So they want us to find the loot before the thief returns and takes it away?” asked Kim.

“Precisely.”

“Just as long as they don’t make me go near the monkeys…” Ron protested.

“Oi - not again with the monkeys…So, now - do they even have an idea of where any of the stolen items might be, Wade?” asked Monique.

“A few hunches, but nothing solid at this point, it seems.”

“Great. There goes my whole day…”

“No! They can’t be moving already! The Synthodrone army isn’t ready yet!”

“Sucks to be you.”

“Rrgh – quiet, Shego!”

“Yes, Dr. Drakken.”

“What?”

“Yes, Dr. D-AHHH!”

Lord Dr. Drakken stood over Shego and Ed as they dropped to their knees and grimaced in pain from the energy beam he was firing from his hand. “You know I demand obedience, Shego. And part of that – uh, demanding obedience - means that you will address me as Lord Dr. Drakken. Do I make myself clear?”

“Y-yes, Lord Dr. Drakken!”

Drakken stopped the energy beam. “Good. Now take the temporary henchmen and get what I want before I decide to do something a little more…drastic.”

“Dude, why’d you hit me, too? Seriously?”

Drakken looked at Ed – then turned away from him. “Because you were there.”

“Oh, that’s harsh, dude. Seriously, that really is.”

“Ed? Shut up,” growled Shego. “Let’s just go already. Maybe we’ll fight some humans.”

“Seriously? Oh, yeah, that’d be awesome, man. Seriously awesome. I’m in! Let’s go already!”

The temporary henchmen appeared at the last minute before they teleported away with Shego and Ed. Drakken sighed. “Finally, some peace and quiet. Now if only this blasted machine would go faster – C’MON!” He kicked the Synthodrone Duplicator machine – sending a loose piece of a spring-loaded joint ricocheting off his toe. “Ow!” Drakken grumbled as he hopped up and down in pain. “Rrrr…”

And obviously, 'Ive decided Synthodrones will now be the 'Putty Patrol,' mainly because the green goo thing is most similar to the Putties breaking apart. The Diablo Ray will be what Drakken uses to make the monsters grow later on, though.
