I made a post in your "sensative discussion" thread and then locked it since it had run its course (and you made the suggestion). Please see the final post in that thread.

Guys, I think we should quit trying to change the board. If you keep questioning the Mod on every decision he makes - then it effects how members respect him. And on a forum, respect of the Mod is vital for things to run smoothly. Ordering the Mod into submission is going to have far more of a detrimental effect on the board than allowing political discussions to continue. Dracko19 has a perfectly good system for dealing with trouble-makers, and it's not very respectful to keep second guessing him. It's high time you appreciate just how good the forum is under dracko19's watchful eye.

Okay, I now get the picture.
I'm sorry I may have caused some doubts in people.
And I'm sorry I doubted your ability as mod, dracko.
I just wanted my opinion to be heard.

One of the radio shows I listen to has a very simple policy.
"No politics!"

Thats a good idea, because it's a very sensitive subject!

So, wait, I'm confused. In the 3 or so months that I've been gone, has politics been banned?
Dang, there goes 1/3 of my entertainment.

Not banned, but you just need to keep yourself under control. Though this is yet another old thread that's been bumped

Ah, thank goodness.
Can I assume that we have learned to use our passion wisely while I've been gone? And to not let it rule us? Or do I have to open up the big book of Sith Rules for Debateing?

So far, we haven't had to lock a thread in quite some time due to political discussions getting out of hand. I guess the troublemakers have moved on.

Or the fact that no one seems to be posting much related to politics... Something that I must take into my own hands to reverse! The opinions of everyone must be known! Let the sharing of our thoughts and view points begin anew! I vow, by Midnight (eastern time) tomorrow to post a thread dealing with a current issue facing the world, or America at least.

I ask you friendly not to provoke a new fight among the board members with starting a forced political discussion. Maybe it's entertainment for you, but you also seemed to be the only one who missed this kind of discussion. Of course you can discuss whatever you want, but you should ask yourself if it's really necessary to start it.

Maybe it's entertainment for you, but you also seemed to be the only one who missed this kind of discussion. Of course you can discuss whatever you want, but you should ask yourself if it's really necessary to start it. I understand you concerns, I share them. But I've always felt that everyone should take an interest in politics. I don't believe I will start a fight. I have faith in board members to maintain a civil discussion. We've done it before. It's important that everyone realizes that. We aren't emotional idiots that fly off the handle every time our ideas are challenged. People can be trusted to defend their own ideals and beliefs without attacking others. Edit: Further more, I intend to settle this issue once and for all! After I have proved my point with the thread I shall start, this thread's purpose will be null, as I will show you all that political discussions should not be limited just because a few people have to act like idiots and start fighting with their emotions rather then their facts. I think I've found something disscusion worthy.

There are some on this board that are very happy NOT seeing political discussions. In fact, I know of a contingent who lobbied to ban those discussions from being on our board. Your insistance on starting these discussions again will not sit well with them. So, in a sense, you are already starting trouble even though you claim you aren't. Posting a thread wth a political theme just for the sake of doing it could be interpeted as "provoking" which we do not tolerate around here. Now, if some serious political event occurred that generated some posts...I would understand that.
I think you need to rethink this "forced" political discussion stance.

Very good! I'm glad to see that there are those opposed to my stance. These nay sayers, I would like very much to speak with them. I would like to know why they think that a simple debate is so frightening.
Look, I know full well that some people don't want to see politics on the board. Just as I know that there are people who don't want sex at all on the board (I'm talking about even the slightlest reference. Good bye most of the shippy pics). People who would out right have ships other then K/R banned. Do you know that there is even an underlying factionism growing in the fan community over season 5?
There's always something under fire. I'm not doing this for the sake of just making conversation or starting conflict, though I am aware that I may end up doing that, in which case my point will have failed to be made. I'm doing it because politics is no different then any other thing in the general section. I want to prove to the nay sayers that it does not need to be banned. More importantly, I want to show you all that the members of this board ARE mature enough to carry out a discusion involving sensitive issues.
And I will be banned and deleted before I submit and say that this board is far too immature to have a simple debate over say, I don't know, the recent raise in minimum wage? Or perhaps Sheehan's recent arrest and opposal of Nancy Pelosi? I wonder how many people agree with her that Bush should be impeached. Oppose her?
You're right though. A forced thread will be negative. However, I actually do wish to discuss the effects of the recent pay raise. And Pelosi vs. Sheehan? Come on, everyone's got a take on this cat fight.
Forcing one isn't the answer, I know that. But I'm not forcing people to do anything. Ignore my thread if you wish. In reality, I was going to post this anyway. But I thought I should let you all know why I'm doing it. Not to start a flame war, but to show that we can be trusted to carry out intelligent conversations. Plus, I really wanted to hear everyone's take on the subject.
But, before I posted the thread, I saw this. And I remembered that I have been gone for a while. If the layout of the board changed while I was gone, perhaps the rules did as well? Now, knowing that political discussions have cleared, I will post my thread. Sheehan Vs. Pelosi, should Bush be impeached?
