CURRENT RANT: Fight For Five Fails Special Edition! This is now my little ranting corner of rs.net. Every once in a while I'll post a rant here. If you have a subject you'd like to see me rant about, please, by all means, PM me. I'll reply if I want to make one. Please don't ask me to rant about anything in the statement below, such requests will be ignored. Also, if it's a subject I know little to nothing about, it's unlikely I'll make a rant about it. I WILL NOT make any personal attacks, political rants, or religious rants. And I forgot to say this earlier, but I'd like it if you post comments on my rants, ie you agree, you disagree, you're confused, or you think I should go jump in the nearest batch of radioactive slime and kindly die. The Internet Is Stealing My ThoughtsWell, it certainly seems that way. Every time I come up with an idea for fan fiction and start to write a basic outline, someone else puts up a story with similar and, a few times, exact traits of my ideas. One fic actually matched, word for word, a bit of dialogue that was the basis for the whole idea. And because of this, I wind up scrapping my ideas so I don't look like I'm copying someone else. Recently there was a fanfic about Kim and Shego becoming fused as one person. My idea had the same basic idea of a fusion of two characters (not the same ones as that fic). This is one idea I don't want to scrap, because this one actually started getting off the ground. It went farther than an outline and I actually started writing the story. Sorry for complaining, but it's happening so often I'm beginning to think someone really is able to listen in on my thoughts.

The trick is to try and find a theme that no one has yet explored, or do it in a way it is unusual to, this way, it is unlikly that someone will get that.
And you can probobly chalk it up on bad luck, put a pro-louge out early so people don't steal it.

That is freaky. I mean once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, but three and more?

Thats happened to me quite a lot. I too, don't know what to stop it. I guess just try to find an idea that no one has yet thought of, something new and incredible.

Thanks for the replies... and subsequent derailing. I am going to make this my rant thread. I'll edit the original post to give more information. Ship Wars, And Why They're StupidI don't like ship wars. It's always the same thing. Someone posts what ship they like, and someone just jumps on them. People have the right to their own opinions. Honestly, you're not going to have a Perry Mason moment where they break down, and confess that they are totally wrong and your ship is far superior. The biggest war starter in this fandom is: Kigo. Someone mentions it, and people go ballistic. People love saying why it will never happen, and love to say things like, "It's something for teenage boys who want some HLA." They like to say, "It's not canon." and, "Kim doesn't like girls." and, "Shego wants to kill Kim, it will never work." While the statements are true (except maybe Shego wanting to kill Kim. I don't see her as a killer, but that's for another time.), they are invalid arguments in the realm of fanfics and fan art. Why? I'll tell you why. The basic premise of fan fiction is "what if... ?" To explore where the show can't or won't go. To do as ff.net says in their sub-heading, "Unleash your imagination." So the writer can just say, "What if Kim were attracted to Shego? Or Bonnie? Or SSJ?" Or whoever they want. They beauty (and occasional ugliness) of fan fiction is you can ignore canon. They can even put Kim and company into an entirely different setting, making an AU fic. So to make this short (too late), if you don't like the ship (here's the important part), don't read it! Go off and write your own fan fiction! And have fun! Remember, they are still fellow fans, even if they support a different ship than you. Thankfully, this site (ronstoppable.net) is usually much more mature about ships. That's one of the reasons I like it here. Other sites... not so much. Oh, and one last thing. While it seems I'm attacking K/R shippers, I'm not. It's the first example in my head. There are belligerent people in the Kigo camp as well. So please don't take it personally. BONUS MINI-RANT!my DeLorean suffered vapor lock a few days ago. So it stalled on a hot day in high traffic in the middle of the freeway. And when I got to the side of the road, someone yelled, "Check the Flux Capacitor!" Jerk. I hate people like this.

CD packaging?

Dude, you're so right.
I mean, yeah. I've not been involved in the ship fights because the only ship war I'm really passionate about is the one against Harry/Hermione and Ron/Hermione shippers. But, even then I don't care.
It's like, people are fighting against an idea.

CD/DVD Packaging
First requested rant!
The person who designed the packaging over CD's and DVD's should be shot. And if he/she's dead, their grave should be vandalized.*
It takes me a good 5 minutes (on a good day) to take the cursed packaging off. You sit there forever, picking at it, trying to scratch the case, or in the case of DVD's, rip the plastic underneath. After a while, and after tearing up your fingernails, you finally get it open, and then it tears funny and it won't slide off. then you have to pick some more.
Eventually, you get it off, and now you have to deal with "security stickers." WTF? As if the store clerk is not going to notice the kid trying to pick the shrink wrap off. And these of course, don't come off cleanly. They tear, and then you sit there picking remnants off, and if you're a bit obsessive-compulsive like me, you spend the next half-hour picking sticker residue off the case, very carefully of course, because if it gets scratched, all that work has been for naught.
And there was that time I had such a tight grip on the case, I shattered it. Another time after all this, I opened it and... the CD was cracked in half. *eye twitch*
*Please note that I do NOT condone murder or vandalism, and if you do this I assume NO responsibility.

The only thng i'll add to the ships wars thing is Kim & Ron is not a ship so it should not be linked in with the other ships. Yes ship wars do get out of hand i completely agree there. It get's tireing after a while.
Now onto your CD/DVD Packaging rant. They break so easily and i hate that. With my OCD my cases have to be perfect and when they are CD/DVD Packaged and they break i go nuts. Which ones are you talking about though Nemesis? The ones that are in DVD cases that have CDs in it or CD cases that have DVDs in it.
The DVDs with CDs i doubt mind because i just put those in my DVD collection. Now i really do get made about CDs that come with a DVD.

Maybe it's this summer heat, but I'm not getting what you're asking. But to clarify (I hope), I'm mostly talking about CD cases, when it comes to breaking the case (although I did break a DVD case once... after my frustration levels with opening soared and I threw it). And I found a broken CD in a CD case (broken in half), and another time found a broken DVD in a DVD case (merely cracked, but still in one piece).

That's what i meant. Yeah the CD cases that break easy. Hate those. I'm buying the new Evans Blue CD next tuesday and it comes with a Acoustic DVD. I'm hoping this case is different but i doubt it.

The other thing I really despise is the way that once the shrink wrap has been disposed of the little bits of security tape get stuck to one's fingers.

I really do hate that crap on DVDs. I'm like, "STOP IT!!" It is so annoying. I like to own DVDs, and I hate all that shrink wrap and other stuff on it. It waste my time. The only thng i'll add to the ships wars thing is Kim & Ron is not a ship so it should not be linked in with the other ships. Yes ship wars do get out of hand i completely agree there. It get's tireing after a while. I agree, it isn't technically a ship, because it's happening. Ship wars happen because people take it so seriously. It's a fictional show.

It's about time I posted in this thread again. I really have no idea what "California style" fume trap gas pump nozzles are, so I'm not going to rant about that (except that it has the word California in it, which means it must be fairly annoying). However I do have another rant all ready to go!
Super Ron This is bound to be one of the more controversial of my rants, and it's only my fourth one! First, I'm going to explain the title. I'm talking about fanfics that make Ron into, more or less, a living god. It annoys me to no end.
Before you jump on me, I think Ron is a great character on the show. He represents the goofball. The guy who will trip over air, make dumb jokes, often takes the path of least resistance, and can get confused. In other words, people like me. And changing that destroys his character. He is (a heartily welcomed) comedy relief.
The big way people write a "Super Ron" fic is by using Mystical Monkey Power. Suddenly, Ron is just kicking everyone's butt and Kim is on the sidelines, twiddling her thumbs. There's also the, "Ron is just holding back so Kim doesn't look bad," line of thought. Which, in my opinion, is total BS. Yes, there is the "proof" on the show, i.e. he made a working doomsday device; when he was Zorpox, he was a better villain... Or was he? More on that in a moment.
I think the doomsday device was, in fact, a happy accident. If he tried again, I bet he couldn't do it. I've done really awesome stuff that I couldn't replicate, no matter how hard I tried. Or maybe some of the genius from that machine did get into his brain. And Zorpox... yes, he did, in fact, almost win (keyword is "almost". Even barely losing is still losing). But for what? Nacos. That isn't exactly the pinnacle of evil. It seems like if Ron applied himself, he could be a solid "A" student. But a genius? I have my doubts. As for the tricycle thing he built... that may be the hole in my argument. But still, he built that for revenge on his cousin. He doesn't seem to be able to focus on the big picture.
Anyway, I sidetracked myself. Back to "Super Ron" in fanfics. Another thing that irks me is that these type of fics tend to put Kim in a negative light. Often some sort of betrayal. Which is not something I see Kim doing to Ron. Then it spirals out of control, and Ron realizes his "true potential", and then I come to the realization... Ron has started resembling a Mary-Sue character. Think about that for a second.
Also, back to the "Ron is holding back..." line of thought. This implies that Kim and Ron have been living a lie most of their lives. I don't know about you, but if I found out that a friend was not the person I thought he was, I would not be happy. In fact, this type of thing has the potential to destroy a friendship.
This rant was longer than any of my other ones. Just to reiterate: I think Ron is one of the better characters on the show. I just don't think he's a good candidate for being an unstoppable (heh, a pun) bad***. He's the guy who can diffuse a tense situation with a goofy comment... and accidentally press the right button to make the doomsday device self-destruct. The guy that can say, "Yes, I'm scared to death, but I'll do it anyway because it's the right thing to do."

You always get two more hot dog buns in a package than the number of hot dogs/brats in a package.
