As for the marriage thing. I have done one marriage story, but if I remember correct I really never set their ages. I am in the midst of a new wedding fic and their ages will be set at least after college. I definitely know that happily everafter is not reality. I have a number of fics detailing some pretty rough times for Kim and Ron, some I am sad to say were more real to me than not.
Marriage at all? That is a good question and the reality would be a decision on both their parts. Are they going to have a life together as a couple or a life together as crimefighters. It may and I say may be possible to do both "no that is not a pun". But both of them would be endangered. One by personal feelings on missions and if and when a family comes along Kim would be target number one.
All that said. It is nice to have a few stories about them leading a happy life. Now that I have completely confused the issue and myself I'll shut up.

well... it's easy to go down the road of "get married, have kids" because it's cute and it's how we envision the happy family. but let's take a hard look at that - are they really going to get married after high school and before college? Perhaps... but I can't see either family being wild about Kim getting preggers without a college diploma at least. To say nothing of at least waiting until Ron could get a good job to support them. as well, let's ponder a second on the villain aspect - a pregnant Kim is *so* out of fighting and would, possibly, be a target for retaliation by the nasty ones who would take advantage of her condition. Nevermind try to nab the kidlet! I'm not a big fan of this particular quirk because it's just not in line with the concept of her fighting the bad guys and winning - unfortunately she's going to have to keep putting parts of her life to the side to keep fighting the good fight and this may be one aspect of her continual sacrifice. but that's just me. *shrugs* Yes. One day, Kimmie probably will have to make a decision. She can either leave a normal life, maybe pop out a kid or two, or she can stay in the hero business. I'm not saying it wouldn't be possible or interesting for her to do both, but it would be most difficult. I have read some fics that do acknowledge the difficulty, but too many have Kim settling down (which is fine) and all her enemies allowing her to do that (which is not fine.)

I just deal with it the usual way when it comes down to this. Would the villains target a pregnant Kim? Probably but the Navy Seal who just put a round through their favorite minion skull in the middle of the night will have something to say about that. Just introduce good old Uncle Sam and the issue is solved. Nothing says 'leave that girl alone' like a couple of thousand pound bombs raining down on your lair. Push come to shove the Navy Seal could always give you a brand new hole in your neck to breath from. After all Uncle Sam is all about making people happy.

hey, now... not aiming at anyone - just a commentary on that particular aspect! and, again... you CAN make it work! May take a bit of extra writing to push it over into the plausible scenario, but a good writer will figure out how to make almost any plot device look good and sharp!
