There were 161 votes in total, so we aren't talking a limited basis here.
Though, to be honest, The Lotus Bloom took a massive jump in the balloting after the final chapter came out!

Hmmmm... Makes me wonder if most of those votes are from newcomers who haven't read older stories.
And to come to think about it, most people would remember the latest stories posted in the last few months than any of the older ones. It's pretty much the same with any popularity vote, the ones most recent on people's minds are sometimes the winners. (shrug)

The next Fannie Awards will be next year, and all stories written or continued between February 1st, 2006 and December 31st, 2006, will be eligible for the new year.
Voting for it will most likely start February 1st, 2007 and conclude February 28th, 2007. The awards themselves will be hosted March 4th, 2007. This is all tentative right now, since I have JUST finished this year's, and my brain needs to get off of boil mode.
And as for submissions, simply make sure that it is posted at FF.net to be eligible. Remember, only a nomination by someone during the voting period will qualify it, so there is no submitting of stories to me.

For those that are interested...
The continuing adventures of immo, Tara, and the Cheerleading Squad!
immo woke up to the sweet sounds of cheering. "Can I get a W, dub, dub-dub-W! A-K-E! W! Dub-dub-dub-W! A-K-E! WAAAAAKE up! Waaay up!" immo cracked open an eyelid to be met with the ecstatic woops of teenage girls. "Wooo! Goooo immo!" The cheerleaders cheered. immo groaned and rolled over. The Middleton cheerleaders sighed. "Ready girls?" Tara gripped her pompoms with determination. Being immo's personal harem was a lot of work! "Ready!" The cheerleaders chirped. They started their cheer all over again, and finally, immo sat up and grinned sheepishly at the girls. "five more minutes?" She asked. "Can I get an N-O, NO! N-O-N-O-N-O-NO!" The cheerleaders replied. immo sighed and entered her washroom, with the sounds of cheers behind her. In the relative quiet of the bathroom, immo waited until she heard her harem shuffle out, then glanced at the bathtub hopefully. Bathtubs could be makeshift beds... "Five more minutes--" "I-M-M-O! Please get ready its time to go!" Two voices shouted from the other side of the door. "I-M-M-O, don't make our job harder for us!" "That last one didn't rhyme!" immo shouted back. There was silence. Then: "I-M-M-O, Tara's made a cup of joe! I-M-M-O, Don't let her hard work be all for show!" "Better!" immo turned on the tap for cold water. And leaned over the sink. She couldn't help but smile. The girls did try their best. ~~~ "Here you go, immo." Tara said seductively and handed a wrapped sandwich to immo. immo's face showed her delight. "Thanks, Tara!" Another cheerleader came forward and handed immo a bottle of orange juice. "Like, I totally squeezed it myself," the cheerleader purred, fluttering her eyelashes. "Sweet!" immo's grin brought a frown to all the other cheerleaders except for the one who had squeezed the orange juice. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away!" Another girl came forward and handed a ziplocked bag full of apple slices. Everyone else came forward with their offerings, and then lined up at the door to bid immo a good day at work. When the door shut, they turned on each other, scowling. "'I squeezed it myself?'" Tara mocked the orange-juice girl. "Please. You are like, a total very friendly person." "Oh, don't give me that." The other cheerleader crossed her arm. "my naco ain't offering her massages every night!" "Please," Another cheerleader butted in. "Weren't you trying to get into the shower to 'scrub her back' last night?" As they bickered, the front door suddenly opened and they all froze. immo ran in and quickly gave the astonished team a group hug. "Thank you, girls. Cheers were fabulous today. Don't be late for school and surprise me for dinner tonight, k?" immo dashed out again after that. The team beamed with pride. As each one made to leave for school, they wondered about immo's peculiar nature. These girls weren't dumb(though one would wonder about that when one found out the team had volunteered to be immo's harem), they knew the definition of a harem. For being immo's harem, they didn't have that much sex... actually, they had no sex at all. They had plenty of housework, though. And they did a fair bit of cheerleading which seemed to entertain immo greatly ("choreography is fun," immo had once gleefully exclaimed). But no sex.
huh.

Wow! Congrats to all the winners...and also to the runners-up! Congrats to all story writers, really! You all rock, because it keeps the fandom alive and buzzing. I'm just speechless about the "best story" win. Shego Rocks had a good run, but it's been around for quite a while and was up against some truly great newer fics. So, thank you all who voted for it!! Levelord is working on more new illustrations for it, and I also have a couple of people work on foreign-language translations. Thanks too, to Zaratan and everyone who put so much work into this event. (This is the second fortunate thing to happen to me this week. The other day an anonymous person mailed me a mini-refrigerator.) ;D

Indeed, congrats to all! and special thanks to Z and MattB for doing all this!
"Shego Rocks" is an appropriate winner for this first rendition. It was one of the first stories I found. It was instrumental in bringing plot bunnies to my door.
What impressed me most was the erie similarities between "Shego Rocks" (2003), and "So The Drama" (2005)! It shows that David Clark Allen truly is a fan who 'gets it'.

You know, Shego Rocks was the first fic I found as well, and one of the pictures in it is the direct inspiration for my first fic (Shego dancing Mankey) and my whole series has sprung from that beginning.

I wanted to thank again everyone who voted for me in the Best Series category. I had some really stiff competition there - I'd voted for Buried myself, and read the Power trilogy - and I was pretty darn nervous until the winner was read.
And I voted for Shego Rocks! too, but I was honestly surprised it won. It's such an old story, and I just had it pegged as the dark horse. Yay.
Sincerely, Allaine

Hopefully, someone will nominate my next Fearless Ferret story coming in April. I think it will be my best.
