I think they calculated at one point this season, there was enough cut material to do another 4 episodes from this season alone. As frustrating as that is for me, the work done by the storyboard artists that is tossed aside is mind boggling. That's a lot of cuts.

Hey I just wondered Can you explain weird look of few episodes like Low budget, was it done in haste or why it just looks so different ?

Query: Can I ask why on the episode Nursery Crimes, when Ron was going through the baby making machine, there was a strange moment when Ron was looking at his diapers? Was that part cut or something? Just asking.

jinxs-There are times when shows look a little different, depending on which overseas studio does the animation. I don't know if I would describe it as 'weird', but "Low Budget' was one episode that I agree doesn't come off that well, visually. That was a first season episode that used some designs that , in my opinion, weren't quite capturing the design sense we were still 'perfecting'. It didn't help that the overseas layout department seemed to hack it out in parts.
tenkan-I wasn't involved with the editing, so I can't answer if there were cuts at that moment.

I think Season 4 has had the best animation and look to it.

The most challenging TIME was my first couple of weeks on the show in the first season. The style of the show wasn't really nailed down yet, and I threw out alot of drawings that were 'experiments'. My first show to design was 'Tick, Tick, Tick', and I really sweated it out. Some oddball backgrounds resulted from it. For example, someone handed me a sketch with Roman column ruins, and suggested that be a path into Drakken's lair. In retrospect, it doesn't make any sense, but we were searching. I wasn't sure I'd last 2 weeks, but things settled down as we became clear on the style. I certainly didn't foresee being the sole designer by season's 3 and 4, but I must have done something right.

Wow, sole background designer? You and Stephen are like - two halves of the same whole.

When I was first starting out I did a bunch of comic books for a company called Blackthorne (and Eclipse). One of the first was "Alien Ducklings", which was an idea by Cliff MacGillivray, an editor/writer who I teamed with. We managed to do 4 issues before it was cancelled. I was living in the east at the time, and Cliff talked me into moving to California where Blackthorne was. My so called comic book career lasted about 3 years, with a few books that kind of came out ok, and alot that I'd rather forget about. It was good experience though, and it did lead to my first animation job, so it's all good. I've got copies of most of the books tucked away in the 'archives'. A mint copy of 'Alien Ducklings' #1 could bring in a cool $1.50 if I were to cash em in.

Didn't Howard the Duck kinda lay an egg though?
I liked it, however.
But, I'm weird. And I LIKE being weird, LOL!

Didn't Howard the Duck kinda lay an egg though? If a movie like that get's made there no way this one could be worse. lol. That's my point. That's known as the worst comic book movie of all time in a lot of critics opinions. It also layed in egg at the box office. Still a good movie always needs a good script imo.

I was totally thinking of Howard the Duck when I saw the picture. That was a very weird, corny movie...from George Lucas no less!
